Hi Everyone!
I’m Josh and am new to the board. I am based in Michigan in the US. Just bought my first Toyota. I have always admired the 60 series cruisers and just happened to stumble on a gem. It was too good of a deal to pass up! Instead of going to work that day I played hooky and went and bought my 1981 HJ60 wagon. Needless to say my wife was surprised when I came home in that and not my van.
Here is the specs.
1981 HJ60 with 2H engine and 5 speed transmission. She is right hand drive and originally ran the streets of Japan.
Only 100k miles! Runs great. Very little rust which is rare for the Midwest. Running 31” tires and original worn out suspension. Using her as. Daily driver now that the weather is good.
So far I have added a new steering stabilizer, exhaust, glow plugs, bypassed the factory glow with a Wilson switch, and stopped some fuel leaks.
I plan on enjoying driving her this summer and then in the fall pulling her into the shop for axle rebuilds, and rust repair. I think I’m gonna patch up the paint and then vinyl wrap her for a couple years while I decide what to do project wise. Stock versus building her up.
Thanks for having me!
Josh
