Good evening all,
The time has come, unfortunately, to let my 79 FJ40 go. One daughter going to college, one about to drive, one more vehicle to buy, and not enough room in the driveway.
Details:
1979 Fj40
2F w/ 4 spd
The motor recently got freshened up with new rod bearings, rings, head refinished, and exhaust/intake manifold seals.
Other new items (within the last 5 years) are:
Gas tank, shocks, HFS front bumper w/ winch, soft top (Bestop), two piece soft doors, bikini top, clutch, clutch master/slave, brake master, tires, headliner, mirrors, Cool Cruisers console, motor mounts, Trollhole carb, exhaust from front to rear w/ muffler, new oil pan/gasket, gear reduction starter, HEI distributor with wires, radiator, and a slew of other misc. items i'm forgetting.
It starts up and runs like a top. I've taken it on a few trail rides, but nothing major. It includes the hard top with hard doors, but it will need to be put back together and new seals/gaskets.
The bad: The cruiser spent it's life up in the northwest years before I purchased it. I bought it from a friend of mine who purchased it in 2001 and had it in storage until I bought it from him in 2011. The floor pans (front and rear) were replaced with just plain ole sheet metal, so no factory floorboards. I had every intention of replacing them in the near future, but it really wasn't a priority since they work just fine and don't hinder the overall look. The frame is good with no damage. The factory mat is there, but it's worn on the driver's side. The hard top needs some work due to some rust. Some of the bolts for the rear doors were rusted and I had to cut out a small spot to access them. The manual steering box is leaking around the seal, I have the seals, just haven't had a chance to put them on.
Here is a link to the web album. I can take specific pics and add them if any are requested.
Picasa Web Albums - Adam McElveen - 1979 FJ40 - some of the pictures are older and some of the items such as the bumper have been replaced. I'll take updated engine bay pics and upload them this week.
Price is $17,500 obo
