1978 FJ45 LWB for sale!! This is an un-altered all original truck with a strong 2F and 4spd, original axles with 4.11 gears. The frame is perfect with only the front bumper horns removed (I still have them). The roof is in better shape than most I have seen with small rust holes in the front corners. The glass is all good except for the windshield which has many cracks. It still has the original 70/30 split bench seats. The cab and doors are in great shape with only one quarter sized hole in the floor at the drivers left heel and one small rocker dent on the passenger side that can be fixed with a body hammer and dolly. The front fenders should be replaced but the hood and grill just have surface rust. The box has rusted pretty bad. The box floor is ok but the spot welds on the sides have all puckered from rust at the floor to wall join and the wheel well humps are dented but fixable. My intention was to restore the box, replace the front fenders, paint and modernize with a 3B, 5spd, disc brakes, old man emu etc. etc. for a daily driver – I have the tools and skill but not the money or time. This truck is in excellent shape for a restoration/ expedition conversion or if you must you could cut and chop and make a very rare trail rig. She runs and drives but the original tube type split rim wheels shake real good at 80Km/h (50mph) and the steering/ suspension is pretty loose. The e-brake works. I don't know what to ask so I'm just going to throw $10,000.00 out there and stress the obo - don't sweat the 10k just tell me what you think it's worth!

Also - I see there is another user on this site with nearly the same name - 45Kevin - I apologize for any confusion but I am not him - he is even from Calgary too!! Hmm - maybe he would like another truck?

Not intending to offend you- but I think you're a bit wishful to get $10K. With the amount of work necessary to restore it- I would be asking $5K-$7K [if it were mine].

45Kevin - not to my knowledge. My information is that this truck came from Northern BC and was part of a fleet of 5 or 6 that were involved with a road building/ rock drilling and blasting company in the mountains. The owner must have had an appreciation for quality. From the overall condition I would say it served as a foremans truck though it had a huge bumper and headache rack that I cut off of it - probably 350 pounds! I bought it from Ryan at Hilltop Cruisers. It was one of three that he bought off the guy. I've made a few things for Ryan over the years - 45 box sides/ plain tailgates/ 40 tub wheel wells - check out his web site he does nice NOS restorations and 3B conversions.

As for the asking price of 10k - I just didn't want to start low and then not be able to go up - I never expected anyone to offer 10k, though if you have it laying around .....

Hey, I'm going to a gathering of 45's in Lake Tahoe this week. I have an extra seat open if you want. Leave Wednesday night, back next Tuesday. I am towing mine down for run or two through the woods.

$10K might not be that far out of range. Mine was appraised for $8700 last year, and my body is more beat than yours.

I feel real bad about this, but I have decided to keep the truck. You wouldn't know but I've been struggling with the decision to sell and every time I have to deal with the sale I just cringe. It took me two years to buy this one and now it has sat for four more but the urge to restore it is still there. The attraction for me is the rarity of this model and as you all must know they can be hard to find. I had it listed on a local site and just going on that site a few times and chatting with some of the other users has made me aware that I just have to keep it. After discusions with my lovely wife tonight she has agreed I should keep it. I am sorry if I have made a bad name for myself here but I would bet many of you can relate to my problem. The truck will sit for a couple of months until cabin fever sets in and I start to work.:wrench: :bang:

I attached a picture of the bumper I made a couple of years ago. Not fully welded in this photo.

Don't feel bad. i've done the same things several times. We're all friends.

Me again

Just created another user name to avoid future confusion b/c I intend to use this forum. FJ45Kevin is now Awl_TEQ

I will continue/start to restore this 45 in a couple weeks after the kids are settled in school. I think I'll start on the box rebuild and the rear frame mods. I'm gonna try to slip a hitch receiver into the rearmost cross member without losing anymore rear departure angle and make some sort of bumper-slider combo from the rear wheels back. ANYway - I'll start a new thread when I actually pull a wrench(torch!) or get bored.

Yeah......I got it bad.....again:hhmm:

That's a first for me. Good on ya. More Cruiser Karma coming your way.

Uh, and welcome back. Oh, and smart move keeping the rig. It sounds like a great Cruiser already. Can't wait to see more of it.

Cheers, Carlos

Get after it and keep the pictures coming. Much better than watching TV these days IMOP. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I've done the same thing before on this Nova sitting out in the garage and the wife actually talked me out of selling it one night. She's a keeper.

On a side note, that looks exactly like my Snap On 1/2" impact on your hood. I've had that thing for around 23-24 years and it finally crapped out on me about 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it yet. Doing stuff the hard way in the mean time.

Good luck with your project.

Bumper looks good, enjoy the build. I'm closing on 2 years on my 40:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:
Let's see a pictutre of that bad boy!

Here's a pic

Here's a 4 year old pic from when I brought it home. Unfortunatly it still looks the same except for the bumper I made but I swear I'll get started on it very soon.:D
