so after much deliberation i have decided to sell my truck, my labour of love, my money pit.
ok so the details... history first
i am the 3rd owner. the first owner was a farmer and bought the truck back in 77 in vancouver area. where it stayed for most of its life. about 10 or 11 years ago now a lawyer by the name of jeff leghorn of whiterock BC bought it off the farmer. he basically kept it as a toy, not realizing what a treasure he had. but at least when he bought it he got it a paint job, which has kept the rust to a minimum. i still have jeff's email if you want it. then last september i bought it from jeff under the assurance that if i flew over there it would drive all the way back to calgary without issue. and it did! I was also assured by jeff that the 65000km showing on the odometer are original, at least thats what the farmer told him. then i put it in the garage and started working, not realizing what a task i was undertaking. so i've spent all winter and spring bustin my balls on this thing and now that its pretty much done, i am exhausted and i am done with it. so work done includes:
new tie rod ends $200
alignment done at the same time.
all new brake shoes $150
new wheel cylinders in the rear $200
rebuilt front wheel cylinders
new brake lines using braided steel with clear rubber coating $120
all new old man emu suspension $2500
found original bench seats off awl-teq in calgary $150
new clutch and pressure bearing, machined fly wheel $300
fresh tranny and diff oil changes
re-greased hubs and knuckles
new axle seal drivers side rear
new pinion seal on rear diff.
new door latches
new hood latches and hinges
new chrome mirrors
rebuilt the locking hubs.
professionally repaired electrical $370, everything works!
removed rust and painted the cab floors with POR15 and then original toyota red
painted the frame with POR15
the frame had some rust issues that i spent countless hours making good, i can show you the details if you come see it, but the inspector was impressed.
removed center of box cause it was rusted and then replaced with wood, but awl teq might still have a center piece for $220 i think.
painted the box
i have a 100L slip tank i was gonna put in the back for extra mileage between fill ups
i also have original toyota hub caps just no original rims. jeff i think has original split rims in victoria.
recently passed out of province inspection about 3 weeks ago!
also on a side note, this has not been a frame off resto, the box was taken off for sure, but the rest was done the with cab and engine in-tacked.
so yeah i have put a ton of work into this thing, and i'll be sad to see it go. the reason i want to sell it is because it is a labour of love, and i have come to the realization that a cool truck is not where i want to invest my life, there are more important things in life in my opinion. it has taken over my life this past 8 months or so, pretty much all my spare time, and i want to have more time and money for other things. however, i do love land cruisers, so i would consider a trade for a bj70 series, something that doesnt need fixing up, hit me with some options if you like.
otherwise im asking $13000
