Posting this for a friend. Watched this truck get built and wheeled along side it many times. Well done and very capable truck. PM me if interested and I will put you in touch with seller.

Tampa Florida. This is a 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser. It has a fiberglass replacement tub, hood and front fenders (which are removable). It is the most comfortable FJ40 you will every ride in. The rear half of the frame (suspension and axle) is from a 1995 FJ80. It is the standard five link with the factory electric locker and OME 2.5" lift coil springs. The front axle is an FJ62 axle with an FJ80 rear 9" electric locker. The front axle also had 1.25 DOM steel tie rods, six bolt knuckles with rock ram Hydraulic assist for the Saginaw steering. The front suspension are RaceRunner air shocks. They are adjustable and work great with the truck.

Now to the engine and drive train. The engine is a Chevy 350 with a quadrajet carb. It is fed to a SM465 standard transmission (which was recently rebuilt. Also had the third gear update kit installed at time of rebuild). It has dual transfer cases. The first being an NP203 GRB to a 1979 FJ40 case with three speed FJ40 gears (2.31 reduction).

$9K

Just saw one with a similar build to this on a Craigslist (don’t remember local).....fiberglass body, different axles, different drivetrain. I guess the other one I saw at least had a full FJ40 frame (I think). At what point do they stop being an FJ40?

There is stock and non stock FJ40's with a wide range of non stock modifications. Your question would be determined by the buyer, totally subjective. Typically, the max value from an investment standpoint is a stock 40 with no or minor mods. For 9k, seems like seller is offering a lot of value for a purpose built 40.
