I guess its missing the 4WD light, parking brake or ??? . I also have run better the after mark wiring harness that i don't know brand name either, but the wires have the name or function on it. I do a search using:...dash layout..1976 dash..etc but noting... a few pictures would be much appreciate ...thanks ;)

Headlight switch belongs under ARB sticker. Non original holes to the left of the OEM headlight location.

Above the radio. All looks okay once you move the headlight switch, and get a correct wiper switch knob.

The unused holes are plugged with black factory plugs. two small ones and one large one.

The 76's had a small light pod that mounted to the left of the steering wheel, under the lower dash pad that had: Parking Brake, Seat Belt and EGR lights. yours is missing.

I posted some cruddy pics on my build as you asked and also just pmed you with a link to them. I dont know if they will help you or not!

Good luck

cruiser...any pic or link that i can see it,then i can buy one....thanks for the replys

thanks living you can pm,or posted here, just in case that any member need it in the near by...its a warning light for 4wd engage ? and parking brake ?

No FJ40 ever had a rear defroster much least rear defrost switch.

If i remember correctly and i could be mistaken but i thought that was the switch that operated my rear heater fan?? If i am correct that should be 100% factory. Maybe it is a different knob that someone threw on there??

:meh:

I have been wrong before thoguh just ask my wife!!

Rear heater is single speed on '76's and came on when the fan pull switch was in the further out of the two positions. There was no separate switch for the rear heater.

Here is photos of my 76 FJ40 dash. As far as I can tell, mine is stock with the following exceptions.

The choke was replaced by PO with the knob you see that says "ENG STOP". The location is correct however for stock choke knob.

The toggle switch (extra fuel tank) is where the second small hole should be.

All three holes should have a black plug like the two you see and can still be purchased at SOR

There are no holes on the left of headlights switch. Some dealers placed a WARN Hub sticker like you see on mine

Also, cruiserbrett is correct about the light pod that mounts under the dash on left side. I have the piece, just not mounted yet so I did not include photo.

Hope it helps

Here are the photos, I had to delete old photos to get these to upload. I guess rookies don't get much storage allocation.
