Hey guys I dropped my 40 off with my Body Shop guy this weekend and this was sitting at his shop. I thought it was a Unimog at first but its the Volvo version of the Unimog. My body man, Gary says that this thing is for sale. I know it has the Volvo Portal Axles which alone are $5000 and asked if he just wants to sell the axles. He says he doesn't want to part this thing out but sell the unit as a whole package. He says it runs good and strong and only has 20K kilometers on it. The owner drives it a couple times a year to keep everything flowing. I don't have the cash but after drooling on this thing for an hour or so I got the down low. Maybe one of you guys wants it. He's not a mud member but I'm listing it for him. If you have any questions I will forward them on to him. PM me if your interested or have questions.

This was his email to me about the rig!!! :bounce:

Heres the pics I took of the beast. (which is what i call it.) it was on an expedition at the artic circle w/ overland adventures . pretty cool website
drivetheglobe.com Has a picture of it at the artic circle. It has the Buick 455 motor. hi/lo trans. Extra tire besides spare, an inverter system, solar panel, 2 diamond plate gearboxes, an extra canvas top, canvas awning, 2-8' ladders, a safari rack, backup camera, heli lights (4) extra spare parts (filters etc..) 3 buckets. the 2 guys i talked to from germany and london both said it's worth around 19,000 american dollars if it was over there. the guy that owns it now just got married. he wanted 25,000 but has since come down to make an offer. I know he'd like 10,000 and that would include all the extra parts for that price. But would take maybe 9. I had a ton of calls on it and offers like 5-7,000. and he wouldn't take that. i think he has around 15,000 in it. but not sure. i'd like to see it gone.

okay- so this is a LAndrover FWC- with Volvo Portals- and Buick engine. Any jeep crap on it.? tcase-etc.

U probably are gonna want to get shots of the axles-engine- at a minimum to satisfy everyones curiosity that this doesnt have any heep crap on it. You may also want to bug the owner to see if this gets more than 4mpg as well as determine whether these are the 5.99:1 axles or the higher ones. :D

@bugnbikes : I am listing this for my Bodyshop guy, he is selling it for a friend. I will forward any questions about the rig to him if you are interested in buying it. I have ALOT of interest in it already.
@Lokiset : If I wasn't smack dab in the middle of a restoration it would be sitting in my driveway : )

Any interest in the truck please leave your email address so I can forward all questions to him. Thank you!!!

F#$$%NG SWEET!

I'm pretty certain that was listed for $21,000.00 on the drive the globe website a few years ago. I know I have pictures of it from the original sale... This is a steal at 9k.

24HoursofNevada: I believe you are correct. He started in the $20's and just doesn't know how or where to market this truck. Someone could scoop it up and drive it cheap. All one would need to do is take this thing to Moab a couple times and sell it there...Exposure sells. Being in small midwest town the locales just think its cool but thats about it. Someone from Mud will have this in their driveway :)

Sent you a PM--would like some more info.

Yes, maybe it's a small midwest town, but it's a small midwest town with famous electric railroad!:cheers:Ned (closet railfan)

This 101 FC has the factory axles not Volvo Portal axles. Not sure about the engine as it was originally outfitted by Drive the Globe with a Rover V8.

I think the rover 4.0 is basically an old Buick or Olds V8. At least thats what I've read. Edit: I.E. Crap!

I wonder if he will take a land cruiser as a partial trade in.
I will ask him. PM me the rig in question. Photos would be good too.

Land Rover 101's never came with volvo axles.

The volvo "version" of the unimog (not quite sure I agree with that description) is the C303

I'm sure it has the regular rover V8 that was based off the old build V8 not the 455 though.

These things are very cool vehicles and I wish I had the $$$ for it right now.
