so its been awhile since ive posted any updates...
Ive since completed the hardtop and placed glass in it. The raingutter should have been replaced but i decided against it for now...
The following photos show the completion of the front bumper/winch combo and the rock sliders. I have also started the rear tire carried and beadlock wheel. The wheels are not complete i just stuck the ring on the wheel to see if i like the grayish color, which i DO! im almost finished with the tire/cooler carrier but have a few minor upgrades to make. More photos to follow in the near future as i start to build the rear quarter panel tube rock gaurds, i do plan to wheel this thing some you know...

You can see the bend i put into the swing arm right off of the hinge to allow the rear quarter panel tubing to connect to the bumper behind the tire carrier.

This arrier is very stable with all this weight on it, much more than the previous one i built. I owe alot of that to the locking handle.

I won't believe it till I see it!!

Seriously pimp truck man. I can't wait to see it in person:grinpimp:

Update!
I'm very close to being satisfied enough to attend a few wheeling events in the near future if work allows....

first up....battery: I have always had the battery in the rear behind my drivers seat. I never bolted it down because i was wanting to build a small tool box around it but couldn't come up with anything i was willing to build at this point. The battery i had was a massive truck battery with 1,100+ CCA that i did not want to squeeze under the hood, it was ugly too. I decided to upgrade to dual Odyssey 925s and a dual isolated battery kit from 12VoltGuy. Really neat and clean kit! Dont knock my wiring as i still have to remove the top battery hold downs and make some adjustments and reduce some weight on them too. I never took a picture of the dual battery box i built but i will when i take the batteries out next time im at the shop for the weekend. These batteries have plenty of starting power and my 4bt only requires one 12v source for my fuel solenoid while running. The 12VoltGuy kit allows me to switch from the house battery to both batteries and allows both to charge. My winch and other accessories are wired to my aux battery. I will show more photos of this when i finish my center console in the cab.

You need heavier gauge wire

Looking good Martin. Let's take a day off next week and hit URE.

 R

I love this truck.

Where'd you find your 4BT? I'm actively shopping and am having a hard time finding one.

How much work do you want to do to get one? If you want to strip a "bread van", find them here:

Global Online Auctioneer of Used Industrial Equipment and Machinery - GoIndustry DoveBid

They typically sell for $1800-over $2k, many report selling the scrap metal/axles/etc for ~1k.

If you want a turn-key 4BT, I've spent a few hours talking to these guys and would recommend them:

Tennessee Diesel Conversions | Your Diesel Conversion Resource

I was all ready to jump on one for the FJ45 before I got distracted by the thought of the whole 2F-E thing.

Also, check:

Cummins 4BT & Diesel Conversions Forums

Loads of info to be had there...

What Jerry said. I've kinda been looking this direction as well. The guy that runs that diesel shop I'm Tenn is also very active on the 4bt forums as well. There are a ton of nice conversion threads there and I can say with all honesty that Martin's is one of the nicest. I thought there was another good on as well but I'll check when I am back at my pc.

Thanks for the info Jerry :D I've been researching on 4btswaps for a couple of months, including a number of threads on here. While I'd love to buy a bread van and strip it out, I have no space to do that. Unless someone would let me strip one at their house, I've gotta just pick up a motor.

I'll look up TN Diesel Conversions, thanks for the heads up!

Agreed, tons of excellent conversions on there. So much info to pour over!

Martin, once again, gorgeous truck:D

Martin, any updates? Have you found any problems now that you've been driving it around?

I know I've said it before, but gorgeous rig
