Gonna put my beloved 74 FJ40 up for sale.
Built October 1973 - not factory original.
Its got a completely desmogged 2F from '77 (I believe). Odometer reads just over 1,000. False reading--it had new gauges at that time, and when I bought it in 2008 the odometer had already flipped. All I know is I have driven this rig cross-country 3 times and never been stranded. The head has been off and got dipped and re-valved. New head gasket. Besides that, re-gasketing is all that has been done. Last test across all cylinders revealed 120 down the line. It enjoys 50mph in the right lane all day.
Rear tub is from a 1968 Arizona 40. Retrofitted a complete interior from a 1968 to include long jump seats and split front bench seat. No roll bar due to the long jump seats.
All within last 1K miles:
Saginaw power steering
4 wheel disc conversion
4 speed trans/transfer swap
HEI distributor
Trollhole carb
Red Top Optima
OEM 1985 2F Starter
New oil pan
Electronic fuel pump only (mechanical location is blocked off)
While 99% desmogged, charcoal canister system still intact.
NOS front bumper
NOS side steps
NOS emblems
NOS disc wheels with tabs
NOS hubcaps
Disc wheels powder coated RAL 7005 (gray)
5 new BFG All Terrain 33x10.50
Dashman Dashbox
Gauge Panel with Autometer gauges, Tach added, Vacuum added
CCOT gas tank
4runner coolant reservoir
Electrical--all lights, brakes, reverse, hazards, brake light indicator, license plate light, cig light, radio, heater, etc. work. Rebuilt wiper motor.
Currently no hard top--have all the parts but disassembled for restoration. Fiberglass cap was removed from rusted drip rail. All glass and rubber are still in sides. Rear sill portion has been cut up to replace the inner fasteners.
Anyways, I'll get pictures up as soon as possible. It has been a blast driving this thing topless around Albuquerque this summer, but a future move to Anchorage and lack of funds is forcing me to prioritize and move on.
Asking 12.5K
Thanks,
Chris
