1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Factory Soft Top
F.5 Engine 112k
4 speed
Rustic Green original matched paint
Barn find, stock daily driver restoration
Soft top and doors from gr8ful on here
Mechanically perfect and road trip ready
Found the cruiser in an airplane hangar and had been sitting for maybe 5 years. The front floorboard was rusted out from water collecting with no top previous to being inside the hangar. NO OTHER RUST on it, just in the front corner of both floorboards. The rear sill and quarters were in great shape no rust through. I welded in a new front floorpan with the original bolt grommets and everything bolted right back in.
I used POR 15 on the chassis and had parts powder coated that were able to be taken off the truck like the skid plate and smaller items. I painted the cruiser and it's good ,but it's not perfect. There are some runs and minor blemishes that could be wet-sanded out, but no major issues or eye sores. I am satisfied with the results, but if you are trying to find errors you can.
I use OEM parts or the best I can find, and this one is stock down to the floor mat.
Strong stock suspension with heavy-duty Monroe shocks and steering stabilizer. I added a set of 5 Goodyear MT/R Kevlar tires on the OEM steel wheels. Warn locking hubs and Warn 8274 winch mounted on the stock front bumper.
All of the gauges and lights are in working order. The interior is brand new, two buckets and two rear jump seats, professionally recovered by one of the leading Cruiser upholstery guys in the country.
The Cruiser has a brand new radiator and thermostat, motor is strong and there are no leaks. Transmission shifts well and transfer case is good in high and low. Original drum brakes have been updated with all new wheel cylinders and a new master cylinder up front. Carburetor has a fresh rebuild and the gas tank is brand new. I just returned from a 250 mile weekend trip without issue.
Speedometer works but the odometer doesn't, I just haven't gotten in there to mess with it but I'm sure it's just frozen and needs some lube.
This is a labor of love for me and I want to continue my passion of keeping old cruisers on the road.
I have an FJ55 project I am ready to start, so on down the road this one goes. Please if have questions or you need anything specific, just let me know.
I'm asking $22000 and I'm near Dallas, Texas.
