I have bought a rebuilt F motor from spector... it is for my 1973 40. The sticker on the side of the motor says F155. I hear this is a hybrid F/2f motor from a 74.
The problem is:  the new motor is not identical to my original in that the oil pump has to be mounted on the right, passenger side, of the motor. Also the head does not have ports for the smog air rail.
Spector is overnighting the necessary oil pump bracket. As I understand it removing the smog equipment will create vacuum problems with my DUI distributor as far as the vacuum advance. I am using the original carburator that has Aisam printed on it??

Any ideas on how to get the vacuum corrected? I need to have this done tomorrow if possible. Thanks

The F155 was a 72 thru 74 model year. But the 74 was different in that it had the improved oiling system. The oil filter location changed not the oil pump. The oil pump is driven by the distributor which was always in the same location on the F/2F/3F engines. The oiling in the head changed with the later F155 so you can't use the early F155. This not having the port sounds like a engine that was not for the US market with our emissions. You might want to check out Trollhole's not USA parts to match your engine. Since CA doesn't require emissions on a 73 you should be okay doing that. In AZ anything after 66 is required to be emission in the Phoenix and Tucson areas unless registered as a classic. Hard to get classic insurance on a vehicle and still use it as a 4X4.:crybaby: Of course this won't help you get it running right away just running right.

If your carb doesn't have a "ported" connection point, the DUI mechanical advance will maintain fine.........

Per DUI's recommendation, I am running my DUI dist. off manifold vacuum.

Tards.

Oops, did I say that out loud?:o

Anyway, the AIR system can be left off, no problem.
Reconnect canister purge if possible, it helps keep the fuel tank clean & depressurized.
Get the carb drilled for ported vac next time it is serviced.

Good luck

 Got a link?

Nope, called them on the phone a few years back and that's what they told me.

Sounds like ported vac is the way to go. Thanks Jim.
