My speedo needle broke and caused the copper spring/coil to break. Odometer still works fine. All I really need is the speedometer bits, needle and housing, but will take the entire gauge cluster if need be.

Bump

Same thing happened to me. Bought the speedo/spring center unit from Mark's Off Road for $100 last month. Speedometer works perfect now.

Thats not a plug and play for a 72. Wiring is totally different, amp gauge will require work. This is a lot easier. You can install that speedometer into your cluster. Will need to change speedo cable and enlarge the holes where the speedo bolts into your housing. Faces will swap but dont know how accurate it will be. Dont remember if it has a speed generator in it. I just did this to my 72 cluster but kept the kmh speedo.

Yep, didn't pay attention to his year. I have a bunch of these but won't be digging through my storage for a couple months, if you haven't found one by then let me know.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Matt has something I think is going to work. Speed generator...is that what those two tabs/small screws are for poking out the back of the backing plate??

The 2 Phillips head screws on back of speedo gear housing are part of the Transmission Controlled Spark System , and the inside has a speed sensor as outlined in this 1972 factory emissions book 1972
