I have searched the threads and could not seem to find anything related to the questions I have. I purchased an old 72 and the rear lighting was basically gone and the rear harness has 4 wires that were just cut off. Green/Yellow, Red/Blue, Green and Green\Orange. I am assuming these 4 wires power the side running lights, the reverse light, the tail lights, plate light and blinkers. I did see on threads that on Cruisers pre 1974 that there are not separate wires to support the blinkers and brakes. Can someone point me in the right direction of how this should be wired. Here is a picture of the 4 wires remaining for the rear harness. I am assuming the ground comes from the fixtures being attached to the frame.

Not entirely convinced you got the right forum here buddy, but my cruiser arrived in the same sort of state with just some cutoff wires, so this is what I did.
Get a multimeter and a friend. Earth one prong to body and then get your friend to turn the lights on as you test each wire. Do the same for the brakes etc and work out what works and when. Then wire it up. You may need to run a dedicated earth connection because the hitch will want an earth wire, and that needs to ground onto the frame somewhere. Trailers will use their own frame as the earth part of the circuit but you can't rely on the metal to metal tow ball for electrical contact, so there is a proper earth wire in the hitch wiring.

With those four wires you should have left blink, right blink, park lights, brake. I am not sure about the pre-72 issue you mention, I have an 84.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it is going to be a long process. Cheers.
