1972 FJ55 For Sale SF Bay Area-lower price-$6500!

Sherman the Family Tank is up for sale. We are moving on to new projects and have a daughter going to college so Sherman needs a good, new home. Sherman is set up as an expedition/camping vehicle and has served us well.

Thanks for all the interest and advice. Based on some of this good, friendly advice, I have decided I have been a bit too proud of all the work that I cannot expect to get back out of the vehicle. It is very tough to set a price on something that has nothing to compare it to. That said, I believe the lower price is very reasonable for the condition of Sherman and the equipment that is coming with.

Please review the pics and see what we have done to make Sherman the Family Tank a great vehicle.

$6500 or close offer. SOLD!

Will even consider partial trade for expedition gear for FZJ80 (bumpers, sliders, roof rack, rooftop tent, 9K winch, etc.)

You can see the build thread with photos: https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-pig-preservation-society/153628-rebuilding-our-tank.html

That is just beautiful, Greg.
Thanks Swampgas. I know it will take a particular buyer to appreciate Sherman, but we are hoping for a good home. He's not stock, but still has a lot of character. Just a little more refined than 1972.

Thanks very much for posting the many pics. Looks great. I like it. I'm still thinking hard about it. Trying to get my head around the time to come get it and drive it back (or just shipping it). And exactly what I would do with it.

Lower Price

Based on some good advice, the price is now $6500.
I am also willing to consider trade for expedition accessories for an FZJ80 like bumpers, etc. See the top posting again for details.

Thanks for the support.
Greg:)

Buyer backed out--Still for sale

Thought I had a good home for Sherman, but buyer didn't want to travel out to CA to pick up or pay for shipping.

So Sherman is still for sale! Asking $6500.

FYI Sherman lives in a garage or enclosed carport all the time.

Thanks,
Greg

That's one cool piggy! I'm sending a PM about a question I have about one of the details on the rig. I wish I was in the market to pick one up...good luck with the sale.

What is the weight of Sherman?
Do you think I can tow it with my Hundy?
Just replied to your PM. Talk with you soon.

Sherman

Weighs about 4,000 pounds. I would think it would trailer fine behind a 100 series. I am working on your PM. I will call you tomorrow.
Thanks
Greg

Congrats on the sale. Congrats to the buyer. Looks like a very neat truck. I'm honestly glad to see it sell, now I can't quit obsessing about buying it myself.

I am looking forward to getting Sherman to Wyoming!

I promised Greg to give him a good home.

Finally picking up Sherman this weekend! Flying out to pick him up Friday PM and hope to be in Jackson by Saturday evening. Its only 920 miles!

Picking up a Columbus RTT at Mudrack for some comfy snoozing on the drive back. I am bringing with me a -40 Western Mtng down bag just in case...

I feel very confident that Sherman will take me safely home.

Please take pics of your adventure. I was dreaming of doing a similar trip if I were to buy this truck or others on the left coast. Would love to live vicariously thru you & your trip. Good luck. Stay safe.
