1970 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40. I have pretty much gone through the entire rig, since getting it in May. Unless stated otherwise, all parts mentioned have less than 100 miles on them. If you're unsure, ask. Rebuilt 350,.20 over with flat top pistons 1.96 heads and a .260 cam shat. Older griffen radiator and black magic fan. New Edelbrock performer intake. Currently has a recently rebuilt quadrajet on it, but includes a complete Holley pro-jection setup. New water pump, cadillac high-output alternator and late model mini-starter. Rebuilt TH350 transmission, new torque convertor, stage I shift kit. Np205 with DD Machine clocking plate, for a nearly flat belly. Front axle is a custom, narrowed and turned D44. It is 27" spring center, and ~64.5" WMS. It uses a stock chevy shortside inner shaft and a stock 80's Waggy long side shaft. New bearings, rotors, calipers, seals, etc. Warn Premium lockouts, Sky MFG. "tall" hi-steer arms with 1.5" DOM tie rod and drag link with new 1 ton tie rod ends, Crane diff cover, 4.56 R&P and a lock rite. Rear axle is a Scout II D44 with 4.56 R&P and a Detroit locker.(Gears and lockers are older) 2" wheel spacers make the WMS ~62". High Angle drivelines F/R. Rear Shaft is Toyota CV and Toyota ujoint with 1 ton flange at the tacse and Toy/D44 flange at the axle. Front shaft is a 1310, Rock Crawler HD long-spline.

The wheelbase has been sretched to about 103" using s-10 rear springs in the back and toy 4runner rear springs in the front. The front springs are shackle-reversed, with the shackle through the frame. Rancho RS9000's at all corners(older). It is sprung over but sits relatively low. Cruiser sits on 37" Goodyear MTR's with about 10,000 miles on them. Wheels are 15x8 genuine alcoas, I have 5 wheels but only 4 tires. I am the original owner of the tires and had them on another vehicle prior to this one. Other stuff includes york OBA, re-covered integra seats (water-resistant) mounted to the cage, new painless wiring harness, custom switch panel from 12voltguy.com. (2) Optima red tops and dual battery kit from 12votlguy.com (not installed). Custom tube fenders/running boards/boat sides, mini LED front blinkers. Has a 22 gallon ford fuel tank mounted underneath the rear deck. There's a rear swingout tire carrier/bumper, 2 con-fer jerry can holders and 2 NATO jerry cans (the good ones). New AGR saginaw steering box, GM tilt column, new steering shaft with flaming river and borgeson joints.
I'm sure there's things I'm forgetting, but the long and short of it is I got this cruiser in May expecting it to be a runner, I have since spent most of my time replacing nearly everything on the rig and I'm burnt out. The ONLY thing I haven't replaced at this point is the rear axle, which is fine.

The only issues with the vehicle as of now are that the intake needs to be ground a bit to clear the york mounting bracket. This doesn't have to be done, but the belts will not be fully lined up if it's not done. Also the tubework needs to have some welds sanded down and needs to be painted. I have a bikini top and a full hard top/doors for the rig. The headers do leak a bit after the motor swap. It has a full set of pro comp gauges, but the fuel gauge doesn't work (suspect bad gauge)and the speedometer and volt meter aren't hooked up. Engine temp, tranny temp and oil pressure all read fine. I have a ton of spares inluding front axle shafts, High Angle rear CV driveline, square front driveline, original starter, water pump, etc.

Asking $12k, I'll try to get some pics up this weekend. Here's the 12voltguy switch panel

Unfinished side shot of fender/running board setup. The impact areas are .120 wall sleeved with another piece of .120 wall. The running board plate is reversed dimpled sheetmetal, for traction... ohh yeah, soft half doors too

hope work's going ok bud.:frown:

Work is going well, I'm not selling it for the money, it's more that I'm tired of feeling beaten down by the thing. I have yet to make a trip with it since I got it in May. Every time I wanted to go somewhere another problem surfaced. I got the rig as a trailer queen, but not because of how built it was. It simply wasn't setup to be streeted as far as drivelines, steering and routine maintenance. It was in major need of routine maintenance things, like the rod ends, and ball joints. Instead of spending the $$ on the scout front end, I built the chevy front end to get high-steer, better brakes and hubs, a little wider and to get rid of the ugly outbaord job that was on it.. Then the intake developed a crack where the PO had tried to thread in the temp sensor for the projection (cracked it) and tried to seal it with JB weld and a brass plug. Then the tranny toasted in my driveway. Turns out it had some water in it and it dissolved a nice half circle on all of the clutches. Then the harmonic balancer went and took the mains with it.

The only reason I am putting it up for sale is because I have changed EVERYTHING. It's all new, no corners were cut, nothing should go wrong, but I am still feeling beaten down by it and don't really like looking at it anymore. It's sad because I love old cruisers and always have. I'm leaning towards a new rubicon 4 door or unlimited. Factory warranty, capable out of the box and most everything bolts on. I've been sacrificing time from my business and wife to "get it ready for the next trip" only to not be able to make it anyways. My wife knows how much I love the sport and usually enjoy the building side of it and it's hard for her to watch me work so hard for no reward.

I'm in the middle of putting the quadrajet on it because I don't feel like messing with the projection anymore. I just want it to run. So long sotry short, this is a rig that has been pretty much entirely gone through, no corners were cut, every step of the way I did what I could to ensure there would be no more problems and imporve performance. I've put a ton of time and money into it.

sounds like you're just frustrated with it and that's very understandable. don't give up yet bro, you've put too much labor and heart into this already to walk away from it.

you have to wheel it at least once!!! otherwsie you're always gonna have doubts like "i should have wheeled it.....".

if you need help with the projection, talk to toploader on the pbb, he just put it on his 40 and is pretty happy with it.

hang in there dude!
