SOLD SOLD SOLD Selling a currently non running 1970 FJ40 here in northeast PA. Here is the title for the link on Mud back in July of this year that attracted my interest enough to buy this truck: 1970 FJ40 for Project or Parts in Northern NJ. I couldn't copy it as a link so you'll have to search a bit. As Jim mentioned in his original post the frame will need repair at some point in the futre although it is not currently a problem.
Basically it's the same truck except that the rollcage has been sold and the disc brake setup is gone, too. The birfs were rusted and unusable in the disc brake setup. Good news is the dash is uncut and unmolested as is the engine and underhood. It's basically complete in these areas. It does turn over but I couldn't get it to start in the few minutes we worked at it (then the rain started!!!!). The brakes pedal goes to the floor.
The windshield glass is missing, and there are no front seats. There is a liftgate out back but no lower doors. There are also no side doors. Gas tank is there. Truck steers and rolls freely. There are a lot of parts that go with the truck- another good windshield frame, lots of hinges, some weatherstripping, stuff like that. The frames for a set of short jump seats are there in good shape and I believe there is a set of new covers and foam for those seats. Running boards are included. The inside heater box is included, too although it has been unbolted from the firewall. The wheels are interesting- look like stock but appear to be wider than 6". Maybe they're Chevy wheels. Tires all hold air. There is the beginning of a new rear bumper and tire carrier in the back of the truck, Jim had started this but it's not finished. The skid plate is in the truck, too.
It's a column shift three speed transmission with vacuum shift 2WD/4WD and mechanical for LO/Neut/HI range in the transfer. Windshield wipers are all there. I believe the lights all work, too but can't be certain of that.
Jim had redone the tub in ameteur fashion and I can say there is not rust back there where you usually find it. The top is OK, hood in good shape. What else.......that's about it. this could be a good start for a project. Check out the photos and see what ya think. Someone please come get this thing it deserves the attention that I can't find the time to give right now. Located northeast PA not far from Rausch Creek or Paragon. Best way to reach me is Mud private message or email shmukter@pa.metrocast.net. Thanks, Gary S
