Sorry about that. Your right I am new. I would like to get $300 for the transmission and the bell housing.

They didn't top shift until '72 or '73? The cane has a different look regarding the spring-loaded ball that holds it in the shift tower. What is the history on this box? Are you still using the 3-speed driveshafts?

I bought it along with a bunch of other 40 parts from a local guy who just finished his build and he was going to toss it all out. I guess he didn’t know for sure what year he had. He told me it was from a 1970s 40, and I knew sometime in the early 70s Toyota changed from column shift to floor shift. So I thought nothing of it. But thanks for the education. He upgraded his 40 to a 4 speed with a 350. I never got any driveshafts off the guy. Not sure where they went ,

The highest wear item on a 3speed transmission is the non-synchronized first gear, which often has multiple chips out of it. For the kind of money you are asking, buyers will expect an inside view of the transmission, and any defects in first gear plainly stated.

GLWS.

That is good to know. Thanks. Just take off the top cover and take pictures of the gears? Not sure which gear would be the first. I am far from a mechanic. Just trying to make a bit a money for some parts for my own 40 project
