I have an old project I never got far with because of title issues. I have a bill of sale but no title. Long story involving the previous owner.

I will part it out, but the truck is in such good shape, it seems a shame to do so before letting someone buy it whole. I will take 3000 or start parting out. You will be shocked at how little rust is on this truck. The worst spot is the passenger floor board and it's just surface. All original as far as I can tell. It runs (started it about 6 months back) but has some fuel pump issues and the clutch master/slave needs to be sorted (currently in pieces). I have all the glass for the sliding windows and the frame. Glass in the hard top is intact.

Selling to fund my FJ40 project. I'm in Fort Worth, TX.

Honestly, the title situation burned me out on the truck. I fought with the dude for months. I believe him when he says he had the title and lost it (I saw his office). But he's not working with me anymore and I don't believe is using the state (small claims court) to take care of something like this. I'm told a bonded title is the way to go and will cost around 125 bucks.

In the meantime I saw an FJ60, though it was cool. Took it for a drive, thought it was woefully underpowered but still cool. Started looking for it's value online, saw an FJ40 and fell in love. Forgot all about the 60 and started my search. So really, I ought to thank the guy.

So to answer your question, there really isn't much wrong with the truck. If I wanted to do a bone stock frame off of a Scout 80, this truck is where I would start. It's fantastic. Especially considering it's 50 years old! The yellow you see poking through the camo paint is the original color. The undercarriage is still yellow. Its got less rust than my California FJ40 (which has none of the usual rear quarter rust). It's nothing short of amazing.

Bump, tell your International fans!

Dude. You need to talk to the folks at Broadway Title. www.broadwaytitle.com

Forget about the other guy and, assuming you have a bill of sale from the seller, you'll be good to go if you do what they tell you on that website. Essentially, you "sell" the vehicle to the folks at Broadway, and they get the transfer handled in either Alabama or Georgia (depending upon the situation, one can be more legally advantageous), then, when they get it registered, they transfer it back to you, with a bill of sale and a letter of title law. Essentiallyl the letter of title law tells Texas that they don't issue titles on such and such age vehicles, but if they did issue titles on such and such vehicles, they would issue one on it. Based upon this, the state of texas will accept the transfer to you and issue a new title in your name. I have used them on motorcycles with lost titles and it worked fine.

I have also used the bonded title route in Texas and it worked fine too; however, it took three years and cost extra money in purchasing a bond. Broadway Title is easier, quicker, and cheaper. And 100% legal. You may decide not to keep the truck; however, you'll get more for it if you have clear title for it in your name. ;) GLWS

That is the cleanest scout floor I have ever seen... In these parts most have wood or stop signs as floors.

Would be a huge shame to part it out...

There are some scout parts sites that have classifieds

Good luck with the sale...

Again..... Nice

Thanks for the tip on the title site, dieseldog.

Ya, it is amazing body wise. So little rust it's not worth mentioning.

I pushed it out of the garage today to make it visible from the street and put some signs on it. Looking at it reminded me of why I bought it in the first place. If I end up getting a title, the price will go up, because I may end up wanting to keep it . :)
