Finally took the 61 out to the dirt. Went and checked out a couple old buildings in the wild. It was a bumpy ride but it made it out and back with no issues.

What area are the pictures taken? Did you drive to Skull Valley/Prescott? Old buildings like that are intriguing to me. Notice the old wall paper on the interior walls. No doubt a woman had a hand in that. I always think about the people that lived in these far out places. What were they thinking? Why would build there?

This area is south of Prescott and about 20 miles southwest of Mayer. These buildings were probably used by the forest service originally. We had been in this area before, but this time there was a for sale sign at the start of the trail to the buildings. Kind of weird.

These little tires had good traction but lacked the clearance needed for my driving. :hillbilly:

Getting my OG bezel all painted up. The repop can then go back on the wall.

It's been just 3 days and a year ago I drug this Cruiser home. Seems longer than a year........

Anyways, I was gonna swap my early valve cover on, but hit a snag. I had the longer studs from an earlier but did not realize this motor needs a neck down version.

So I resealed the original setup. Even used the fancier oem style acorn nuts.

Good call on the jack!

I've got a period correct 250 mm adjustible wrench if you want to trade anything.

Decided to get some new drums, since the old ones seem pretty warped.

I had a feeling and I was correct. New drums......no good. They don't fit properly. They are the same as later 40 drums and clearly the 1961 is different.

Yes there are. Few things carried over from the FJ25 and fews things were 61 only, that includes the brakes.

Started tearing down the front end. One side still had the safety wire for the spindle bolts. It was all pretty crusty. Not looking forward to cleaning everything. The new drums do fit the front. So hopefully, everything will work nicely when done.
