ON the vehicle, Can this be done...I have seen a number of wheels that were not true, including stock Tacoma steelies. Also, MTRs can be a bitch to balance. Ask me how I know....
Try getting them to a shop that will balance them on the vehicle.

Possible bent rim. Possible deformed tire. Possible incorrect balancing. Possible incorrect wheel alignment. That's just a few ideas off the top of my head.![]()
Just got a set of 305/16's MTR's on rock crawler steelies and have a shacky steering wheel at 40-45MPH, got'em rebalanced today, tire shop added weight to the outside rim. Didnt fix the prioblem.. Any ideas....
You could find a tire shop that has a Hunter balacing machine that has the Road Force Balacing capabilities. The Hunter Road Force Balancing is the best out there, but it cost $$$. I would guess that you will spend about $40/wheel to balance them.
The other option is to try something like Innovative Balancing's Dyna Beads. Dyna Beads have worked well with the MT/R's in the past.
A question for you. Which Procomp wheels did you get? Did they clear the brake caliper? Please let me know if you had to do anything to make them fit (i.e. spacers).
Ill make some calls to find out a tire shop with that Hunter Force machine, and about your question, not sure if this wheels are Procomp, bought 'em from wheelers offroad, invoice said item # PCW 87-6883 S3 16x8 6 on 5.5 and 4" BS. Wheels clear brake caliper, no spacer required..
Thanks! I've got the same wheels & tires on order (they are Procomp wheels). Glad to hear they fit fine. Good luck with the balancing. I am going to run the Dyna Beads. Wheel weights and offroad don't mix -- the weights always get knocked off.
If you get the same wheels and tire size (4" BS) I did, expect the tire go over an inch out the fender line..I kinda think is too much, wider stance is nice though
Do you think there is sufficient space between the upper control arm and the backside of the tire to go with a 4.5" BS wheel .vs the 4 BS wheel and still fit the 305 on without rubbing the control arm?
Yes, 4.5" BS will clear UA using 305/16, I have an inch an 1/4 gap between tire and UA. ...
I've also had diffrent sets of MTR's. The 33's on my FJC have balanced fine. I had 37's on my 4Runner, and I didn't even bother to balance them. They were as smooth as glass. My 38.5" Swampers, on the other hand.......Dude its the TIRES..........as bad as it sounds MTR's suck for balancing....my roommate has 37" MTR's on a cherokee and all but 1 had this problem.
I just switched out the BBS wheels that came with my FJ for a set of MotMetals. I was getting wheel shake from 50 thru70mph. One of the tires was using about 8 ounces of weight to balance. The tire shop deflated that tire and re-indexed it on the rim, then rebalanced with 3 ounces, and that solved the problem.
I've got 16x8 rockcrawler wheels 4 1/2 backspace from wheelers warehouse w/ 285/75 16 and @ 45-55 mph my steering wheel also shakes but I'm use to it now.
