One cost an individual incurs is the time to find another suitable truck.
This is unlike most vehicles.
Will the Insurance Company compensate for this?

Nope, they're going to offer payment ASAP, mostly to close the claim and get him out of the rental. Once they declare the total I expect they'll want him out of the rental within three days max. All the soft time and non-physical damage costs are not covered under the policy. Might have a bit more leverage if a 3rd party had trashed the truck and their company was liable, but not much here. Car broke, pay claim, close claim....

The first or maybe even the second value the insurance co. throws out there is negotiable. I wouldn't jump at the first offer unless you believe its adequate.

take the cash pay her off and buy back from insurance company and spend few grand and you will have a great trail rig

if you end up with a salvage title you may want to document and keep everything so you can show why it was totaled to prospective buyers upon resale. Nobody wants a truck that has been in a major collision and totaled, but repaired body work like this would not deter many.

I sold a totaled vehicle once after a fire, there was only minor cosmetic damage. Bought back from insurance co, sold quickly, made a bundle.

I didn't claim my trail damage but it's similar down to the same tail light.

You can let them total the car, and request a buyback amount. They will cut a check for the value of the car to the bank. If there's any remainder you get it. You can put the remainder towards the buyback, lose the payments, and keep the car.

You can also work with a body shop to get the estimate closer to the value of the car so they will pay for damage and you get to keep it.

I ordered a Slee rear bumper and installed my 4xinnovations sliders (too late but oh well) after a sideswipe accident and flopping a little bit at Jambo.

You can use the monies to get a lift and other parts or get a payment free toy.
