I'm coming up on 150k on the rig and recently noticed that I have a lower boot torn on the passenger side. Since I'm going to have go in and pull stuff apart to replace the boot, I was thinking about going ahead and replacing/refreshing the PITA to get to parts on the front-end.

On my list were upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower control arm bushings, spindle bearings, fresh boots all around, and wheel bearings.

Am I missing anything? Am I nuts and all this is overkill?

Thoughts appreciated.

Steering rack bushings...

I just went thru this, did the CVs the wheel bearings and some of the bushings plus new shocks and springs etc. One thing I kept thinking was: "should I have gone all out and done the 80s transplant?" you know go solid axle?
Of course I didnt and its ok bc -for example in your case- this parts have lasted and served for 150k miles. If you are keeping her I say go for it!
But the front axle swap intrigues me.

Replacing all rubber bushings and links will make a huge difference in handling and make for like new steering and handling. Might want to consider installing new when you take it apart. OEM is hard to beat.

I would love to do the solid front axle (a la 105) but really can't justify it at this point.

Now to get the parts list together and call up ACC. Thanks for the input!
