I was gonna see if my 15" rims with 36"tsl's off of my 40 will fit my 80.

I thought I read something about the wheels contacting the calipers and maybe a little careful grinding could make them fit?

I'm not concerned about the tire size just the rims. They are black A/R steelies. :D

Rear brake caliper clearance is an issue. Some say they can be ground down. Approach that with caution.

That's what I remember hearing. I'm not real excited to grind on a caliper unless it seemed particularly bulky where it would contact.

it takes more than a little grinding to make them fit, Trailcarnage did it for a buggy with heavily modified rear 80 axle, so far he has had no problems but that is a low speed vehicle, I would not grind a daily driver

he had to grind his fronts calipers and wheels also but that was a combonation of mini truck and fj602 and custom front brake/axle parts, the side of the calipers stuck out to far

You need to grind more than a tad. Some have done it and I haven't heard of anyone with issues. That said, I've seen a lot of guys including Christo recommending against it. Why not run the 16's on your 40 with spacers maybe.

The reason for it... I just wanna run a set of Swampers on the 80 for trails. BFG A/T's suck off pavement compared to the Swampers and I was just thinking that as long as it's just sitting there I might as well snake the wheels and tires off it and put 'em to some use. :D I don't really care is the 16's fit the 40 other than to keep it off the ground.

I'd go completely 'neck and pu it on cinder blocks w/o rims and tires. :slap:

The 40 is parked indefinitely until it sells or I come into some unexpected $ somehow.
