I have been searching for a way to mount a Hi Lift Jack to the roof of my FJ. Here have been a few good idea and some expensive ones. However none of them seem to work with my wallet. So time to get creative at the local hardware store

Pipe Claims $13
Longer bolt, washings, and wing nut $2

The chrome polish even gives it a nice professional look.
The pipe clamp has a rubber interior that helps secure it to the roof rack.

The washers I got were too small to completly cover the jack stem. It worked but the washers bent to confrom to the jack stem. I think either larger and stronger washers, or one that can fits inside the jack stem but still covers the jack stem hole used for mounting.

Even without upgrading the washers, I am impressed by how secure it is to the roof. I will let everyone know it is working after my 400 mile business trip next week.

I am very impressed. great job!

:D cabillas sells rubber mounts for 7 bucks in there auto section, all they do is wrap around and latch,im using a set for my axe,and a set for my shovel:beer:

Oh I need to restate this........its not mounts its rubber latches(for the lack of a better term) The rubber keeps the handle to the jack but I did use them to mount the axe and shovel to the roof rack. No way shape or form will the rubber clamp hold the jack to the roof rack. However I do have a set of roof rack clamps that is stil attached to my rack.......came off my FJ62

Steel City(brand) makes a bracket for mounting conduit to steel....I used them on my 62 for a short while. Those should be dirt cheap
