Im considering purchasing a 14 LX (no trade in). I currently have a 14 LC (as a past post will show).

I'm looking at 2014s with 15k - 25k miles. Willing to travel to pick up if the price is appealing enough to warrant it. Do you have any opinions regarding what is a fair price, excluding taxes, for an LX in good shape? Mainly interested in lux package, levinson audio, park assist.

Thanks in advance for your input.

You say no trade in...so I'm curious... Are you planning to sell your LC?

If you want to see real prices, I'd suggest looking in auto trader.
-I just did a quick check there...with no distance limitation...and they are starting at around $65k for 26,000 miles.

As for what is "fair..."? -Man, that depends on you.

Input?
-Personally, I think it would be a little nutty to sell your 14LC and buy a 570 just to upgrade the stereo... ;) ...Sorta like buying new shoes because a shoelace got dirty... :) :) :)

If it's me? I'd BUY SHOELACES. :)

I know it's trickier upgrading the stereo in the Land Cruiser because of how many integrated functions are built into it... I'd probably replace the head unit in my 2008 cruiser if not for that. But...I did see a pretty sweet replacement made by Alpine that is sold in Australia for about $2600. That's pretty steep...but probably not as steep as replacing the whole vehicle. Maybe you could import one. Alpine makes a quality sound system...

Thank you for the feedback. I may mod my LC later, or, give to the wife and trade her car. (Plan, so I can get the LC back to mod at a later date if not now )

As for the LX, it's not just a stereo upgrade, although that's a plus that should be quantified. We enjoy several annual road trips in the LC, and I'm sure we will enjoy the same in an LX.)

In the end it's more about buying another 200 series (albeit upgraded) before I get pushed to look beyond the chassis.

So, that being said, what would you buy today, with the year and mileage parameters above.

I think I'll let others chime in here. One of the challenges for your question on this site is that most here tend to focus on the off-road aspects of Land Cruisers, vs. the luxury aspects. One of the amazing things about the Land Cruiser is how well it addresses BOTH off-road and luxury...but I think you might find that most here just aren't as focused on the element you are after. When we talk of "sound" it's more likely a question of how much noise does a certain MUD terrain tire make on the highway...or...what are all those terrible-sounding noises when the 200 is in Crawl Mode? :)

Where we differ:
I recently replaced my 100 series Cruiser that was quite built-up for driving in the boonies...with a 2008 Cruiser in fantastic shape and low miles.
**I have actually turned the GPS on it OFF, and mostly just use the big screen for all the various other functions of the Cruiser.

I paid $39k for a 200 with 48k miles on it. So to me...

Given that an LX with 25,000 is pushing $70...you might want to consider a new LC. There was a recent thread where a guy hunted for and bought a new 2016 Cruiser...and got a pretty good deal as new Cruisers go. I'd bet you would find the stereo and other refreshes to your liking. And... In my personal opinion...the new Land Cruiser looks WAAAAAY better than the weird new front on the 2016 LX.

But again... We're in different markets...and I'm just yammering now... :)

recently bought an immaculate 2015 LC w/6700 mi for 67k, excluding taxes.

Go lx

Since you are looking for road trip with family it won't disappoint

What I hate is no luggage room behind third row
So I have 21 cubic feet roof box

My caddy esv friends laugh at me due to no luggage space compared to them

Sometimes my families needs dictates what I drive

After driving sports cars during the week, don't voluntarily drive a land cruiser. Poor use of condoms forces me to drive one

Having driven 100, 200, both in lc and much luxurious lx guise , the caddy drives much better

I don't buy American thus I don't own one
