I've got a thread over in the 40 section but was recommended to try here in the hardcore section.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/245099-tire-size-issues.html#post3739798

I am looking for some advice. I have the opportunity to get a great deal on some 35x14.5x16s but am curious about any issues that I might have.

My current setup is SOA, F motor, 4spd conversion, power steering, front discs, stock birfs, stock rear shafts, and stock 4.10 gears.

Other then the fact I will need new wheels, anyone see any major drawback to a tire of this size on my rig?

i ran some big tsl boggers on my 40 for a few weeks...mostly for grad though. it rubbed ALOT on my fenders when i would start to flex it up. i also had to run 1/4" spacers in the rear so it would stop rubbing on the frame...sag was working pretty hard to turn them when they got good and bound up but...still easy to turn at a stand still. the tires i ran were 35x16x15 they were closer to 15" wide then 16 but did the trick

Darby, I Ran 35/15.5 SX's for a while on my 40 when i first did the spring over, wheels where 15x12 with 2" backspacing.. I Sheered off my steering studs a couple of times and they wore pretty bad on the road..

My Current tires are 37/ 13.5 wide.. If you do alot of street cruising i would stick with a 12.5 tire..

if your wheeling it most of the time and they are cheep go for it!

This will be primarily a street ride, and secondarily a trail ride. Thank you for your recommendations.

did you have front locker .. if the answer is yes .. I strongly recomends upgrade for your birf ...

front locker is on the list of mods to come. As well as some Longfields.

I run 15.5 wide tire and agree that 12.5 is a better choice for a mostly street driven rig.

with a mostly street rig i would go for a skinny tire....better on gas as well. i figure im already giving the oil companies enough $$ im not gunna give them any more than i have to

Tire sizes are very limited in 16's for when you need new tires.. I'd pass on wheel size alone.

I was noticing that, thank you for confirming it.

I think I will stay at my present 15s.
