Hi Guys,

This may come across as a bit of a silly thing to have done but I have changed an inline pump to a rotary pump on my 13bt land cruiser with direct injectors. The pump is off a 3b with indirect injectors - I'm having trouble with a lack of power, there is no smoke and pump is quite noisy. Any ideas on how to fix??? Also, any ideas how to work out when the pump is actually injecting?
Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Well the pump is totally different to the 13BT pump for a start, the fuel volumes will be less, timing different etc etc and no boost compensator. Why the change? If you can a dyno tune would be good to get timings close and fuel. Or just wind up the main fuel screw yourself. (I assume you have boost and EGT's gauges)

Thanks for the reply
I decided to change it because the rotary was meant to be more tunable and as its a competition truck I wanted to try and get more power out of it.
My EGT is sitting at 500 and that's with little to no load on the motor.

Why would a smaller, non compensated pump be more tune able and make more power than the factory pump? Factory 13BT pump is on and off boost adjustments, ramp rate and a few more adjustments, a much better choice. An upgrade from a 13BT pump is to a 14BT pump, rotary and bigger again.

What turbo are you running and what are your boost/power goals?

Wouldn't I still have the same problem with trying to get it timed right?

My 14B-T fuel pump on my 13B-T has no issues . Get it installed by a professional. Hultsy is right you need to state what you want. I asked my doctor for a 13B-T which would push me back in the seat fully loaded up. I got my request and a lot of $$$$$$ later

Thanks for your replies guys - Its great to get input on this.
The turbo is a Biagio and was hoping to get 150 - 200kw out of it.
Would you have any photos of your engine so that I could have a look if your willing? Any info you might have on the installation of the 14BT pump would be greatly appreciated - how does it mount etc?
Really grateful for the advice guys - thanks

Do you mind telling me who did your installation Cicak?

My Surgeon in Rawang and he is sworn to secrecy on the mods.

200KW thats 260HP - I thought you would be looking for TORQUE thats much more important in a diesel.

Mine no idea till the rebuild of the gearbox is finished but I estimate over 450nm just with how hard it pulls. Soon a visit to a DYNO will sort out the numbers questions.

1. the fuel pump will have to be tweaked with more lift in the rails. This is done at a specialised DIESEL tuning shop not in a back yard.
2. The injectors need to match
3. The turbo needs to be matched mine is a Supra 7MGTE turbo with mods done and no I do not know I sort of do but its only rumour so I cannot put in on a forum.

All of 1/2/3 was done away from my prying eyes and IT brain in a specilised diesel tuning shop all at the same time to match them. Thn brought back and installed into the 13B-T/14B-T
