where should I install this mech. water temp sensor? Will the fitting that came with the gauge (isspro) fit the 13B-T or will I need a different adaptor?

Can I keep stock sender/gauge too?

I thought temp sensors belong in the head, not down the block.

On a 3B there's a big plug on the left side of the head just behind the thermostat housing. Perhaps it fits there, but that might be a tapered thread.
IIRC the thread size of the temp sensor of a 3B is M16x1.5, I would think that that would be the same for a 13BT.
I guess it would be one or the other temp gauge. I'd rather go with that mechanical one there.

Thanks for the info. any additional thoughts or comments welcome....If I have to choose between fact. and this mech gauge it will DEFINATELY be this mechanical gauge....

Where do people punch through the firewall/bulkhead for this type of thing?

Agreed, but I was thinking he wanted to keep the factory set-up intact.

I forgot about that one. It is right behind the power steering pump. Probably a very good place to put the probe. I've never opened it though, so I don't know if there is clearance behind for a probe in there.

Try here, the thermostat housing is the same lower unit between the 3b and 13bt, I think. Daryl

Not quite the same. The t-stat housing on a 13bt has coolant ports for the turbo. From what I understand they are hard to come by.

Use the head plug - I have a picture of doing just that on my 3B; its very deep. If your probe is 1/2" NPT and fits then you can use it safely: 1/2" and large NPT is OK to use with BSPT. (under 1/2" there is a slight difference in TPI and you should use an adapter)
