Has any for you folk ever put a 12 volt fuse panel in using a 24 volt - 12 volt converter? How many amps was your converter out put? Or is this bad to do?
Thanks

I have 8amps max coming out of my 24-12 convertor into a 4-circuit fuse panel in a plastic box in the glove compartment. I also used a bus bar as a common ground to chassis. I run a stereo and a CB radio off the fuse panel, 2 circuits are empty. The stereo and CB are switched between the panel and component so that I can eliminate any draw through the convertor should anythign weird happen.

The convertor is under the passenger (left) seat, as it is not one of the better waterproof versions.

Thats great IM ...
Sounds like it works well for you. I have a 10 amp 24-12 converter which I would like to attach a 800W inverter and similar fuse system, to be used separately.
Would you know how many Watts your 8amp 24-12 convertor system puts out?

Thanks

I just installed a Solar Converter that goes to a 6 gang fuse block of which 3 are "always on" and the other 3 are "switched" via a 24V relay and then a bus bar as a common ground. I only have my radio hooked up so far but plan to do an alarm as well. I believe the Solar Converter puts out 20 amps.

I have a Powerstream converter mounted under the dash above the glove box going to a 6 gang fuse block. The converter has a switch lead that I've run to the radio, but I like Canuck's idea of the relay.

GB - I think "Ohm's Law" is Watts/volts = amps; so if your inverter is 800w/120v should = 6.7 amps. I think... but maybe have some spare fuses.

No fires so far.

Yes that would work good, downside is battery storage for a bj 74, but a drawer system would work good.

i am considering installing a 3rd battery w/ fuse panel into my rear drawer system for all my 12v accessories and using the solar converter to charge it. what do you think about that? eventually i will be running stereo, lights, cb, dc outlets, aftermarket gauge lighting, winch, etc. Would that work?

Exactly my thoughts too! Even have it sketched out. I plan on using an Optima blue and a Solar convertor. I like the idea of a fuse block with switched and hot bus bars. I'll add that to the design.

I only ask, as it is one of the best places to be, in all of BC!!!

Thanks
