12 V intake heaters (1 Viewer)

Probably a long shot, but I'm wondering if anyone has knowledge of the difference between two 12 V intake heaters:

19810-17010 / -17011 - 1HD-FT and 15B-FT

19810-17030 - 1HD-FTE

They are both 12V and have the same fittings (same gaskets) and are both currently available, so one is not a superseded version of the other as far as I can see.

I think therefore there must be a real technical difference. If I look at the vehicles which have these parts, -17010 / -17011 came in vehicles which have (unspecified) 120 A or even 140 A fuses, whereas the vehicles having -17030 have 80 A fuses.

Basically, I want one for a 15B-FT swap into a 1989 BJ60 which has an 80 A fused glow circuit, and I'm worried that these glow heaters will blow the circuit.

Where do you live and how cold does it get? I’ve found the direct injection diesels start pretty well even with no heater system, so unless you are doing a lot of very cold starts then either should be fine.

also, it’s not that expensive or difficult to build a new wiring harness and buy a quality high amperage solenoid/relay to drive the bigger heating element. In fact I’d probably recommend upgrading the existing wiring regardless...
