I was also thinking about that section widening and if they would do something like that to this one. Even though an 80 is my primary rig.. and I'd really like to be able to make it through without taking a beating, I hope they leave it alone. Goob's 40 ends up living at my place for awhile every now and then so... I'll wait.

squeeze

I took my jeep through the squeeze yesterday (11/14/09). I had to pull the mirrors in because they were starting to touch. I also have a '97 LC 80 which I refuse to take through. Your vehicle moves from side to side as you pass through. Unless body damage isn't an issue, I wouldn't chance it. However, I do recall the back bumper of my Jeep did connect a little with the rock lip at the end. No good for a stock rear bumper on an 80. Here is a picture. The shadows are a bit dark, but you can get the point.

Thinking about going but I have a 100 and can't fit in. Is there an alternate crossing/pass for that section?

yes there is, I believe there will be a group of people that will be meeting us after the dropoff and will be going around the squeeze.....

I told the BnT guys around 10 am but 9 should be OK. What if everyone met then and the 2 groups converged after the drop-off. I would think that with cell phones and CBs we could pull that off. GPS coordinates of the convergance after the "wall" following the drop-off would be useful.

Mike, keep it at 10am, works for me, I don't see it taking all day and I would rather not start early, so 10am at the trailhead, let me know if you want to meet up at that mobil station on the way out?

Jim Eyerman and I are heading out Thursday evening. My buddy you met the other day who has the semi rig with all the toys might leave at the same time. We will meet everyone at 10 am at the trail head.

So I'm reading a book, and it says no bypass for the squeeze. Unless you guys know of a secret bypass, I'll drop down Diablo and meet up in Fish Creek. Do you have a planned CB channel? Mike, I may call you Fri morning. Happy turkey day everyone! jd

That is the alternate route. We usually are on channel 21.
