you say top engine burn. Is that enough to junk the 100? Seems like it could be fixed and then the thing sold. Or sold as is. Just buy a few goodies for the 105, enjoy the simplicity and put the rest in the bank?

If that 2006 has only an engine top problem, and you actually like the extras it comes with, why don't you fix that one in stead? Maybe even put the engine from the 105 into it, if you prefer diesel.

I imported the 2006 about 2 years ago with the intention of fixing it and keeping it. Looking back at the pictures before dismantling, it was more of an engine bay fire. The complete engine and all the metal survived, but most of the plastics sensors and computers are toast. After looking into the prices for parts and even a rolled 2006 model, I came to realize it's going to cost the price of a working truck to get her back to shape. But I did learn something, and I can recoup any expenses selling for parts.

Very interesting seeing a non-U.S. spec 100!
Kind of a mix of things I like and don't like. One of the nice things is that it looks like you can practically hose out your interior (albeit, carefully).

It came with a padded interior roll cage, but I decided on removing it when I read it was unsafe without a helmet. I'm not 100% sure if it's actually safer without it. Maybe one with more experience or knowledge could shed more light on that.
I have a 105 with an un-padded rollcage and haven't had any problems banging my head on it, I'm 6-2 tall too and drive on very bad roads/trails that get the body rocking back and forth a lot.
Your truck looks great, very similar to mine except I have power windows and locks. No rear air though, my a/c doesn't even work anymore. Still love this model 105.

It would be nice if it could be hosed down that easily. I power washed the interior twice before after removing the vinyl carpeting ( sound deadener glued underneath) and seats. The car acted like it was huanted for a couple of days. The headlights would randomly flash cars in front of me to my amusement and their obvious irritation :), and the combination meters would go bezerk. But it's much easier to clean than non vinyl.

Thanks. That's good to know you have a roll cage on a similar vehicle. Is yours street legal? Mine bolts to the floor, not the chassis. It was installed by an oil company, I would think they put some safety consideration into it. Im more concerned of the safety factor in a serious accident or roll over.

Bolted up the leather seats for a trial and boy are they sooo much more comfortable than the ones it came with. I can't see myself going back. Not sure if that's because they are of a better grade or that the previous seats are just worn out. The car does have more than 900,000 Km's on it. It's a land cruiser, right?.

Trying to figure out if the factory 100 series fuel tank will bolt up as an auxiliary tank. It seems it will hang lower on the drivers side. Not sure if that's workable.

I agree about the comfort of Landcruiser seats. Few things feel better than skiing all day or being at Disneyland on your feet all day and crawl into one of those seats and maybe even turn on the seat warmer for the ride home!

BTW, Wow! Even the elastic netting on the seat backs is in good condition!

900,000 kms is an awful lot. Probably not a lot out there what kind of mileage.

Ya, it's pretty high mileage especially out here. Here they usually drive them like they stole them. I see plenty of 200 series and the latest 79 series with blown engines at the mechanics. It's probably due to it being a previous oil company car, and they're ability to provide oem parts and quality servicing that it's still standing on its feet. I'm hoping to see it through 1,000,000 km, but at my driving pace that's gonna take a long time.

with 1000000 kms on it in the desert you can probably get some sort of official sponsorship from Toyota!

This is the only picture I found when I bought it back in 2013 for $3500 from IAAI online auction. At the time, I didn't realize how much more expensive parts were for the 06-07 were compared to the earliest models.

I gotta chance to snap this shot of the donor car the other day. This is how it currently sits. As you can see, I've already stripped and stored most of the parts that I need.

Wow, that looks like a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: out of :banana::banana::banana::banana: project! And a long time till it gets on the road.
I sure hope you have an understanding wife if you're married!
Keep posting pic's of your progress, I'll just sit back and take it all in...
BTY, seriously, I do wish you the best in this project!

Thanks, It's definatly fun seeing in detail all the parts of the rig and how they come together. Luckily my father in law has been owning Land Cruisers since the 70s and is an avid falconer and outdoorsman, so :princess: is quite understanding.

I've come to realize the power seat harnesses aren't the same for these two models 2002 & 2006, so I've cut up the one from the donor and plan on installing into my car. Should have power this week. Then comes the windows; I've decided to install the electric windows for my kids safety. I got one pretty active young boy and have just really come to appreciate child door safety locks, electric windows, and power locking doors. It's quite nerve wracking when the little ones have complete control of the windows. Unbuckling seat belts is one of his most recent new found abilities. :)

Hey guys! It's been a while. I've been having some setbacks recently. The main issues that have been stalling me are holes in my car. What I thought was innocent looking surface rust turned out to be more serious when I started scratching and poking around.

This one was revealed after I removed the side decal.

This was after poking

And then my other car got a poke. But this time it wasn't from me, but from a mortar round from ISIS!

Luckily it didn't detonate, and only left minor damage.

On the bright side I don't live where this happened (behind my car wash). I live in the safest part of the city. And my 12000 lb Viper winch with 3/8 am-steel blue synthetic rope finally showed up a while ago. I got it in a clearance sale for $400 which includes synthetic rope, waterproof cover, snatch block, wireless remote, leather gloves, and a cable dampener. On close inspection it really looks like a re-badged badlands winch. I also got a universal winch mount from summit-racing to bolt it on to for about $25. Hopefully i'll be getting it on soon. I'll try to upload pics later.

The biggest priority right now for me though is tackling the rust problem, cause it's spreading fast. I'm thinking about cutting both rocker panels and rear wheel arches of the donor vehicle and welding them up to my car. After that a possible full repaint. I don't know if i'll do it myself or get a pro to do it. Ill probably try welding in some spots that are not noticeable to see if I can take it on myself first.

Just to clarify a bit on my car being hit. Isis has unfortunately been surrounding the neighborhood my business is located on 3 sides. There's only one way in and one way out of there. This surprise attack they made took place on the biggest holiday of the year here. There was an army unit fending off the attack right behind the wall of my car wash, and they were the obvious targets. Though I almost won the Darwin award for actually having the audacity to come by and check up on my business, thinking being a holiday and all, things would be all nice and dandy. Well i guess I learned terrorists don't take holidays. So I've had things on hold for a while until the dust settles down.
