GSMTR 2012 | Celebrating 21 Years!

What all are you bringing spare parts wise? I'm going to have a spare CV and that is all.

I am now registered ! I am bringing a spare CV but if I don't need it your more then welcome to use it if needed. Make sure you have a good spare. Other then that I might bring some depends after seeing Jgray's damage at URE. From the pictures Golden Mt looks way tighter then a :censor:

GSMTR looks VERY tight. Tight for a 60 even. I plan on coming back with a couple more dents. I do not plan to wheel lightly :D

Main problem will show itself if it rains. Trails are tight and rocks+clay+rain=be really careful.

Wish I could go. Went in 2010 but now that it's back in May, there's no telling when I'll get back to this event.

Registered.

First year that TW 100's make a big appearance at GSMTR. You should here the comments!

More pictures later tomorrow., Paul, Yeti, Steen, Griffin, Marius and I hit some awesome trails. A few good slider hits and bumper tags we showed them 100's mean business! Few good diff hits and a smashed control arm on my rig. We plan on ramping it up a little tomorrow. I have hit numerous trees and a few new dents and scrapes

Guys, thanks for sharing. I hoped to attend this year, but my niece is getting married this weekend.

iv got a control arm if you need it once you get back

Marius picked up some serious damage on 14A. Cut KM1, smashed quarter panel and lost a taillight. I clipped the rear diff pretty good, front skid trashed and tagged the quarter panel as well...

man, sounds like a slug fest up there. good luck.

Hate to ask but what is the attrition comparing the 60's and 80's to the 100's? Or is all we are seeing is the doom and gloom?

Lots of riga are getting beat up out here. It's very tight for any wagon, period. Most rigs I have seen have already been wheeled very hard and have some level of body damage or trail rash. The 100's seem to get beat up pretty easily out here. Griffin and I ran a trail that was so tight your body panels were always 3" away from a rock or wall. If you choose your lines very carefully you will be fine, but there is not way you can run the trails here without getting a new paint job. I'm not trying to make it sound like we are out here beating on our rigs, but a tire slip or not paying attention could certainly damage your 100. There are a lot of rocks that catch your front skid and rear diff out here. I will post many photos tomorrow, Paul, Steve and I are going to Coal Creek tomorrow to do some more wheeling. Should be a great day. Pictures of us not ragging out rigs out to come

I have heard that about GSMTR in this new location myself....and have no interest in running trails that you have to expect body damage if it is the slightest bit wet.....I will stick with Uwharrie until I find something else or just not participate.

Did they do any trail repairs from last year to make there a true difference in challenge....i heard they had different ratings but the easy trails were far tougher and dangerous to sheetmetal than the HARD at Uwharrie....

Nick, I wish I could meet you guys while at windrock, but work schedule is tight this week. If you guys head out for dinner or drink, give me a shout. Hope you guys have a good trip. Mark Mark

My first event like this and I had a blast. Several people were talking about moving the event next year to a location with more trails to just cruise.

Very few "easy" trails. The moderates were near impassible for a 100 but we squeezed through a few, some paid the consequences. I banged up a rim or two pretty good, one deep pin stripe, scratched up sliders, mega gash in one of my Nittos....nothing major, well worth the trip.

First pic is of Paul dropping in the first "easy" trail, I think #2 on the trail map. Second photo is of a group, 100s in the middle.
