The stuck picture is on the beach in El Golfo Mexico. I thought I was being smart and go for a short cut trough the wet land and in a few feet the groung disappeared and there I was >:( After airing down the the truck backed up on its own power. This was a self supporeted week long trip so the truck was loaded to the brim.

Doron.

interesting considering that by airing down, you ended probably lower and even more resting on the chassis? looks pretty low already. how did that work out?

Now, this is a very nice set of skid plates:

Well,

Just aired down cleared some send, especially at the back of the wheels and crawled right up. The truck has 35' on it so I don't loose a lot of height a lot when I air down. This 35's fit work great on this truck. With the size and weight of this beast, they really fit. They stink on-road, though.

Nice skid plate, drexx. What is it of? I don't think it would be too hard to make. I would try to protect the pivot points of the lower control arm, though...

It's not mine, but from a HDJ-100 pic serving an Arab military, from www.lcool.org . It's a good idea to copy though, and maybe soon.

Does it have coil-over in the front? These shocks look interesting!
[/quote]

Yes. My guess is that back then, there were no torsion bar upgrades for them, so they *might* have added the coil-overs for more suspension support (due to added weight of guns and armor(?)).

You'all are something else. JUNK, trying to make me feel like a fraternity pledge ain't gonna work. If you knew what a biatch my wife is, you'd realize how thick my skin is! HA.

Now, back to those two clip-nuts . . . what the he*ll are they for. If I don't find out, it will probably lead to finacial ruin as I lay sleepless and unemployed in my driveway trying to determine what they do.

Please, for the love of god man, help me.

:D Good call.

So, getting back to that airing down thing Cruiser99, actually you were smart not to air down ahead of time in that situation. If you were, you may have gotten further into the mess and then airing down further may not have been an option or a help. This is why sometimes folks get into more trouble with lockers and would be better off with a winch.

Hkeller, I answered your question about the clip nuts above. Now crank out 100 please. :P

Sorry, I don't have first-hand info on those. Give George Couyant a buzz in the 100-series mailing list? 100sCOOL@yahoogroups.com .

But Ken Hanna of www.hannaquality.com had some ideas he gave me about it when we were talking about my UZJ-100.

You got a good point there, Junk!

I actually walked the area in front of the truck right after I got stuck and I sank in knee deep. I had no business driving on this stuff. As soon as I saw water bubbling from underneath the tries, I should have stopped and backed up.

BTW thanks for the credit but being smart had nothing to do with it just luck :-[

don't worry, I won't give you credit again. :flipoff2: :D

Well I don't know what the're for either, my HDJ-100R TD has them as well, so looks like they ship them around the world!! I wouldn't mind an extended plate to protect the 5 speed auto pan though, would love a drawing and dimensions of the Arab plate mentioned earlier.

Hey Doron,

The truck is mine and the bumpers are home made. The gears are stock and the tires are 35x10.50x16. It has the factory locker in the rear and ARB in the front. I'll have more photos soon. Including paint on the bumpers.

The two clip nuts that Matt points to with the green arrows in the above photograph. They are on the rear of the engine sheild. I have them on mine, but there is nothing attached to them. I just want to know what they're for.

Old thread. All the pictures are long gone. The second page of this thread left the original question and since pictures that might have helped are gone I'm going to ask again what is suppose to bolt to two clips in the back of the of the engine skid plate. I have more LCs than I can count on two hands so my 2000 doesn't see anything hard core. But I had a sharp rock take out the sidewall on my spare in a falling rock zone I drive regularly at night. Even a plactic skid plate would help protect the transmission pan better than nothing. Did Toyota ever make one that fit this area?
