Cool 1FZ-FE DI engines. No dizzy!! Woo-who!!

Yeah...they have a bit more zip then I remember my 97 having...I suppose due to the tranny. The armored one is pretty sluggish, though. Not sure on the year models but they all have around 50K kilometers on them.

2007 was the last year of the 1FZ in most all Land Cruisers. But since these are agency cruisers, they might have had Toyota make some up for them (which they do if they receive a large enough order).

The DI helps the engine out a lot and the specs for the DI'ed 1FZ-FE are higher than the one with the regular dizzy style 1FZ-FE.

Cool pics.

Those are coil-ignited 1FZ-FE's, not 2UZ's. It's easy to tell by the difference in the intake manifold. Although you can see the coils in the pictures, on the front left side of the valve cover, where the distributor would sit on the "Regular" 1FZ-FE

We had those in the late 70 series Toyotas here in Venezuela, from 2002 all the way to 2009. They handle way better than the distributor version.

It is not noticeably more powerful, I think it has a ~10hp difference, but it is much more faster revving and smoother throughout its powerband.

Most of the FZJ 100 models for Asia and middle east was delivered 1FZ-FE with DI (direct ignition) and 5 speed manual gear.

When I worked for Toyota, our powertrain tuning group had a slough of 100's running the 1GR with a 5-speed. These were Middle East spec and P. Packs - no sunroof, steel wheels, cloth seats (but F/R air). Pretty neat but not very awe inspiring performance. Before I left, there were a handful of 200's running around in that configuration as well.

I would think a 5 speed manual v8 would fun. The auto is pretty fun with DT headers if you punch it and drive it quickly. Revs so freely.
