it is the tan plastic cover that goes over the black part of what you show just above here. my pic shows a piece of it broken. frankly I like the all black as you show here. This ? (p/n 35921-60180)

Note that the "butterfly" is different for 98-00 models (i believe). My 98 has just a stationary piece that fits there. The "butterfly" for the cup holder in p/n 55633-60050 (search for it on google and you will find multiple sources).
"The plastic piece that goes around the shifter"that could be interpreted and as number of different things.

yes correct 2001 land cruiser. i am going to try to peel up the rest of the plastic. the part that goes up to the ashtray is all good, figures they would have added it at the dealer. The p/n 58804-60151, that I listed is the early LX470 trim piece:

The picture you show looks more like the Land Cruiser panel, (that is usually solid black plastic with no "wood") with an aftermarket (port/dealer added) wood kit.
yes, and I agree just going to remove it. the black looks best anyway. You talking about the fake wood grain? Kits can be bought, but IMO just remove it.
thanks for the good advice on removal, was going to try acetone but worried about damage to the baseyes, and I agree just going to remove it. the black looks best anyway.
I was trying to look up a replacement for this drink divider/butterfly item. My 1999 TLC has the adjustable version, although I did buy the rig used, so the used car dealer may have replaced the factory default item. My local Toyota dealership said the 1999 only shows the full drink holder assembly (pn: 55604-60062) and doesn’t offer just the butterfly divider.Note that the "butterfly" is different for 98-00 models (i believe).
