Still in

I am sorry. Even though i got this going, i cant do it at this point. I have spent a lot on fishing tackle lately and am pretty tapped out at the moment.

I'm thinking about this one...

Yukon - whatcha fishing for? We've been wearing out the big rockfish off Virginia Beach. Giant Bluefin Tunas and Humpback Whales have been mixed in w the Stripers... The fishing has been on fire down here...

Cant resist posting a pic of a local tournament I won last month... This 40lb rock was worth $10,000...

thats awesome man. Great fish, congrats!! You need to get in the fishing thread in the hunting and fishing section. I picked up a couple tiagra 80s from a mudder, and got a pair of rods too. Also, i am hunting for some 50s. You need to go after those bluefins, they are a blast. I have pics of 3 of mine in the "ultimate fishing thread" Congrats again!

I will have to think on the skids for a few more days,..

Yukon 80 tiagras is great score. I'm a shimano guy and have gear up to 50wlrs. We are going after the Bluefin next week. I'll jump in the fishing forum or PM you.

Sorry for the hijack everyone...

Come on guys. Suddenly we need one more? Did i not refer to something like us falling short just a few posts ago? :bang: Who ever said they were in, don't flake out.

Thanks Mike,
Its awesome you give such good products and deals. I am sorry i backed out, but i will be getting your plates around summer time once i get some funds back together. The boat is going into the yard, and i have had way too much fun with tackle buying lately.

Thanks again for the group buy.

Yay!

I want to clean out my threaded frame holes with a tap before I install the skids. Anyone know what size the treads are?

Well, I'd like to thank Mike for the group buy, a great deal on his skids.

Picked mine up, primed and rattle canned them and finally installed then this morning. Easy as pie.

No problems with the MT sliders

However, I found a small chink in the armor, no pun intended:grinpimp:

The oil drain does not match up with the hole on the front skid. I have maybe a 1/4" more that I could slide the front plate back, but it won't be enough to line up the hole with the oil drain.

Easy fix, I'll probably just cut the front skid like the center pan with a "u" shaped notch in the end:meh:

That may be something BIOR may want to incorporate in their design.

Can someone post a picture of the whole system from underneath (maybe while on a lift). I'd like to see it's coverage and design as compared to Slee's system pictured clearly on their website.
Slee - Skidplates

I think I like the BIOR better so far (definitely the price), but would like to see it better. Since I'm in CO, I guess I could always drive to his shop.

Thanks.

Coverage is very similar, the BIOR flare out a little more on the center plate behind the torsion bar mounts, I think Slee covers a few more inches further back on the cross member pan. Big difference is you keep your existing crossmember with the BIOR, Slee you replace it with their plate.

Best I can do with no lift and crappy cel phone camera:)

Thanks, phrogg4evr (sheesh, that's a mouthful!)

Those pictures really help. I understand the drainage, access and weight benefits of the holes in the Slee plates, but something about that flat smooth steel, I like.

It does look like it hangs low with the cross member in place, but Slee's is also built down at the belly plate. I wonder what the difference between the two is.

NOTE: if there is another page for "chat" about the BIOR bumper, please direct me and I won't clog the group buy post-party install photos. Thanks.

It's hard to tell by the pics but I can't tell how the BIOR skid connects to the LC at various spots. I know Slee has 3 or 4 bolts on each side of the belly plate.

5C,

It is only a hair lower than the factory cross member sticks down in the middle, it sits almost flush to the cross member. In fact you use the 3 bolts for the worthless little factory T-case skid to bolt the rear skid to the cross member.

JB,

The BIOR rear/cross member plate uses the two inner bolts on each side from the factory cross member. So, you have four bolts holding it on which are down inside the skid plate, so they won't get dinged up if you drag across a rock.

The front uses 5-7 bolts, depending on if, and which diff drop you have. The 5 bolts in the front are the same as the factory splash guard. The two in the rear will tie into the BIOR diff drop. or possibly the two rear splash guard holes bolt if you don't have a diff drop. Have to ask Mike in that one. I have the Slee diff drop, so no holes unless I drill and tap my own, which I'm considering:hhmm:

The center plate ties into the front and rear plates, and the overlap is set up so if you are sliding forward, none of the plates catch.

Good design, great price and works with the Metal Tech sliders I have without modification:meh:

Really surprised by that. Are you sure it isn't an install issue? I done have that with my BOIR skids.
