Question: How come the 55s and 60s can offer so much front flex compared to the typical 80? Leafs? Links? They always seem to look more aggressive.

John,

Maybe it has something to do with the mods he has done to his 55?

55's and 60's flex like that when sprung over on soft springs. An 80 on 6 inch coils offers close to that articulation. A 100 has what, 6 inches of flex or so regardless of lift?:flipoff2:

All the wagons suffer from a lack of axle strength as the tires go past 35 inches, the 80's being the best in that regard because of the bigger and stronger birfield.

You know nothing you moron. A 100 IFS has -5.235" flex. :D

OK...here's what I mean about 55 and 60s....I've seen MANY that have wildly flexing front axles. I see no 80's (OK, Podvins old rigs) like that. What gives?

Gotcha. OK, so the typcial 55 60 lift doesn't offer up that type of articulation?

also using standard links, with 2 connection points on the diff per side limits flex as during articulation it's trying to "twist" the diff housing.

Would appear then, "you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink........"

what are you inferring with that one...

and in the post below you agree with what i was saying the first time you attacked me.

but then you deal with the weaker high pinion front. :grinpimp:

John,

Why resort to name calling. I had hoped that you could do better than that.

Like others have said here, the only way for you to see what I mean about the 100 on a trail like the Rubicon, is for you to be there. I'll be more than glad to spot you.
...

Uh-oh. Run, John, run like a Gump!

Too funny... :D :D :D

I'm running. I'm running Drexx! They're right....I'm the LAST one to know what a 100-series is capable of. I guess I should get out on the trails with it more often. :D

Shotts-One other advantage that 100s have over the 80 series, is that they float. I suggest you test that capability next time out. Unfortunately, Drexx has definitively proven that 80 series do not float. He has also proven that Hilux trucks do not float either. Fortunately for you and Drexx, Toyota anticipated the need for this capability and built it into all 100 series trucks after the 1999 model year. I am looking forward to your photographs documenting this feature. I am suprised you of all people is not more familiar with Toyota's literature on this subject.:D

Wow. I was not aware of that. Thanks for the update. Just another reason the UZJ100 is the "supreme" Cruiser I guess. :D

DUH...!!

EVERYONE knows that all you have to do to make your rig float is to INCREASE YOUR TIRE PRESSURE !!

GEEZ !!
