Hey guys, I got in my truck today to run an errand and my air conditioner suddenly does not work. Air comes out of all of the vents and all the other AC functions work except that it does not blow in any cold air. I checked the compressor and it does not seem to be engaging the clutch to run. I ran through some troubleshooting on the FSM and as best I can figure out the AC amplifier is to blame. The relays for the AC and Magnetic Clutch both test good as well as fuses in the hood and the driver footwell. Before I buy the ~$500 part, anything else y’all can think of? The AC worked flawlessly before today.

Also shows the codes for 21, 23, 24, 45, 48, & 49. According to another thread on the Lexus forum, that points to the amplifier as well.

You checked to make sure you didn't lose the a\c charge?

Losing A/C charge should not be an overnight issue, right? Sure seems like that would a more gradual thing than one day it works to one day it’s dead.

So what's the diagnosis? How did you get it fixed? I have the same problem with my 2009 LX570. THE A/C was super cool the day before. Next day it's gone. Only warm air. Any thoughts?

Sorry man, I totally left this hanging... My bad.

Long story short, I did have a leak but it was in the condenser due to a socket my little brother dropped a few months before. I ordered the core, replaced it, had the system recharged and viola, back to frigid goodness.

I've heard of people finding leaks along the lines that feed the rear A/C. My system was 100% ok other than that pesky socket. If you have a local independent A/C guy, I'd go see him. These machines don't seem to lose compressors so it's likely a rupture somewhere in there system. I think my A/C guy wanted maybe $75.

I got an estimate for $670 to replace A/C pressure switch which is supposed to fix the leak I was told. Then $220 for ac recharge. This is at Lexus dealership. I needed a car for the weekend so I had to cave in because I got the loaner.
