Both well maintained, both 200k miles.

The Sequoia probablly 3-4k more expensive, thereabouts. Limited model.

Is that a fair price differential?

I know you guys love the hundys but I need a fair assessment.

I will probably put 25k miles per year on it so I need reliability. Family of 4 - 2 year old and baby on way. Will drive it for sales job. Wife has a 99 100. She does complain sometimes on long trips that the 100 hurts her back. Also, corporate will probably allow the 2010 Sequoia but a 2005 is a harder case to sell. Just want to know before I start pleading my case for it.

I would probably lean toward the Sequoia to change it up, but I just love the hundy, and the hundy comes in cheaper to buy up front, which is a big consideration. Also, the wife would probably get whichever one I get in 2-3 years - and I would just drive her 99 LC.

So there you have it with all the considerations. I would not seriously off-road this truck, just light stuff for outdoors activities.

Input?

Basically all things equal, I need something that just flat out works if you know what I mean. I know both are good, but what do you guys think?

We can debate the virtues of each vehicle, but what really matters is if your company will pay for mileage. If they won't pay for the LX mileage it seems like the sequoia is the obvious choice. Not sure what your corporate arrangement is, but IRS mileage rate is $0.575/m.

I personally cannot imagine driving a sequoia before a hundy. Not a chance..but that's me.

Get the sequoia if you already have a 99. Youll probably want the extra space for rhe kids.

What @Scotch said. If I am planning to drive 25K/year I would be looking at something with v6. Sequoia and LC/LX are great but gas cost is going to be significantly higher. Gas is dirt cheap now - in my area gas is currently $1.89/gallon, but it may goes back higher. I would only consider Sequoia or LC/LX if that 25K/year includes regularly off-road travel that require 4WD.

Highlander or Lexus RX comes to mind, or even a Sienna which has a very large cargo volume and extremely family friendly. Maybe not a popular choice in an LC forum, but perhaps makes more sense in this case.

Thanks for the replies guys. All good things to consider.

I've thrown the car seats in a 2010 RX and it cramps the front. Car seats are just so big nowadays. I don't want to sacrifice front passenger leg room.

I've looked at highlander also and that is an option though not my favorite. They all beat a Fusion or Taurus company car though or a Jeep Compass or a Dodge Journey..... They don't give any options I would want to drive.

I would get an allowance plus a small gas payment - the allowance would come out to around 350 after tax and insurance. The gas payment is 11 cents per mile which is a wash at about 22mpg. I could pay out if pocket for the difference if it meant a more comfortable ride overall for me.

So at 12-14k I'd have it paid in a few years, which is better than a company car IMO -that's why I'm going down this road.

Realistically the LX is probably out.
