One just popped up for sale near me for sale. What should I be concerned with this close to 200k? It's above my mileage comfort zone- but its a toyota. It is a one owner with complete service records by a toyota dealer. Within past 50,000 miles it's had passenger side manifold replaced, brakes - rotors, tires, alignment, CD player replaced, new muffler and regular oil changes.

What should a 200k 03 cruiser be going for? I like it- just scared of the higher mileage. I had been looking for a 03-05 in the 130000 mile range. But- as you know they can be hard to find.

You're gonna have to slide under it to make that decision. If it has been reasonably well maintained, the engine and transmission should be fine. I've found old Land Cruisers get tough to maintain when rust gets to the underside or under the paint.

fjfj60, you mention twice in the post how the high mileage scares you.
If you don't feel comfortable don't buy it. Buy something that gives you a good feeling.

Just never have owned a car with near 200,000 miles. It looks like it has been maintained pretty good and it is pretty clean on the outside so that is comforting.

Yeah, I'd be squeamish. I've driven vehicles over 200k, but knew every nut and bolt by then, and knew it had been maintained. Buying someone else's, I'd have to have some reason to think it was maintained well, like detailed records and receipts.

Well went and drove it today-clean with no rust on her. Does have normal parking lot scuffs for the age of the vehicle. Leather clean with no rips or tears. Was previous owners 4 land crusier and traded it in on a new one.

Desler will do $15,000 out the door with a new timing belt service included. Is that a ok deal for age and miles?

That doesn't sound too bad to me, although you should be able to get them to come down a bit.

I wouldn't worry too much about the miles. Put a little away every month for potential small issues and you will be fine. The vehicle itself is bulletproof basically forever but small things like window switches could drive you nuts long term if you don't keep up with them.

I drove my 1998 100 for 16 years and 331k miles. Never had much go wrong. Regular maintenance made it 100% reliable.

If you average 15k per year, its about right. But im willing to bet you can do better. Hold fast! :)

New member here,

Just wanted to add that after convincing my Boss (wife) that we really need more space and 4wd (we live in FL :D)...I was in a similar situation and yesterday decided to buy a 03 LC, with 183k miles. Detail service record, one owner.
Total with taxes and new plate / registration $11,600.00

No surprises so far, normal wear and tear.
Initially the price was higher but was able to renegotiate after finding out the stitches on the back seat gave up.
Engine feels responsive, so far no complains on transmission.
Tomorrow will take it to the local shop for a full extensive maintenance check.

Any advises on that end?

Got the dealer down to $14,500 out the door for it with the timing belt service included. It's a toyota dealer so it would hopefully be a quality repair.

Is $14,500 in the ball park for what a clean one owner service every 5,000 miles land crusier is worth with that kind of mileage on her?

They want a deposit before they do the service which I am fine with. Told them I would be in touch in the morning.

They did something similar with the deposit to me.
About the vehicle price I don't know what to tell you.
I got mine with a bad floor carpet, bad smell, and the rear seats leather is in really bad shape.
According to the local shop the vehicle is mechanically fine.
Mine also had all service record.
Try to fight the price and see what their reaction is, and keep looking.
