Can w/ an '03 LC tell me if the second row seats fold flat (forward) so the vehicle can be made a 2-seater w/ full cargo area in back when the 3rd row seats are removed? Do any of the 100's have 2nd row seats (pre '03 or overseas versions) that can fold flat for pure cargo?
It's been that long since I've done it but I think the following is correct.
Australian '03 cruisers 2nd row seats fold their back onto the base of the seat then flip 90 degrees forward (Edit you have to remove headrest) and stand up behind first row, pivoting on the front of the seat. Sorry I would give you a picture but I have 3 child seats in the 2nd row with seatcovers, half cargo barrier, roller draws etc so I can't quickly throw the one behind the passenger seat forward for a pic, but I'm sure if you search around the Toyota sites you should get a seating layout in all the various positions. I'm also fairly certain that 98 thru 03 are the same and all do it. Edit not sure on 04-06 although could be wrong for all!
Mine is a 04 Arabian specs.. the seats fold up to the front like 100 TD said but without the need to remove the headrest.. the seats are then fastened to the corner grab handles using built in straps (not strapped in the pic).. I hope that made sense..
I removed the smaller second row seat (permanetly) so my kids and dog can simply walked to third row seat from second door without folding and unfolding small second row seat. It is 7 passenger SUV instead of 8.
The larger second row seat (2/3) is extremely heavy to remove so I do that only for overnight camping for extra headspace.
One thing disappointing, unlike the 80's where the floor is flush after the second row seat is removed, on 100's there is a sharp seat brackets exposing thru carpet, bad for kids' knee.
I can removed it but it will required cutting few inches of carpet to access the bracket bolts. Maybe there is a way of doing it that I didnt know of without cutting carpet.
if you recline both the font row (after removing headrests) and the second row you get an almost flat sleeping surface.. I've tried it once for a nap and it was comfortable.. didn't try it for a night sleep though..
