'03+ ARB Combination Bar on a '98-'02 LX470

Does the 03+ bar have the plastic cut outs/receptacle for the driving lights only? My brand new 02 bar does not have the plastic cut outs. Just curious.

I take it you're referring to the inserts with the ARB fog light and turning/parking light signals for the '03+ bars while the '02- bars only have a turning signal? I think all the newer ARB bars like the '03+ LC/LX bars, FJ Cruiser bar, Prado bar, 4runner bar all have the inserts. My old 4runner has the same style of bar as on your 02. What i noticed is when my wife is following me in the 4runner at night, the car in front can't see the corner parking lights since the hoops obscure them. I think in Australia, there's some law that says if the light can be obscured, even from an angle, you have to have extra lights. At least this holds for the rear bumpers, which is why the ARB/TJM/Kaymar rear bars have auxiliary tail lights in the bumper (one of the vehicle's tail lights might be obscured by the tire/tire carrier, etc.).

Question?

Can anyone give me the dimension of this open area in the bumper between the red arrows? I ask because I'm looking to fill the whole area with a Vision X LED light-bar. If some one can post the open are Length x Height x Depth.... I'm hoping for 42" x 2.7" x 3"... THANK YOU to whom ever does it for me! :) If it's not 42".... then I will go with the 32". I'm hoping for one of the other.

haha, the sahara bumper is fruity.

Hoser, I will buy in the future if you go with the Slee.

Well, I wouldn't say it's fruity just that there's no advantage except for weight reduction.

No one likes me!

I'm guessing 32", what I really need to find out is if it's 3" high with a 3" depth. Then I can fit the 32" XMITTER LED BAR... got excited because i found a good price for $1200.

its not 3" high. Why not just mount it on the tabs that are there for mounting lights on? Its less then 2inchs tall and just shy of an inch in depth. You COULD mount it on the front of the bar, but if you ever bumped anything, there goes 1200.

LOL! Well, I like the way you are thinking at least.

Height is the main dimension I was looking for. Instead of going through the mods to mount the 03+ bar on my 2000, I was hoping I might could fit either a pair of these:

Vision X 6" Xmitter LED Light Bars - Sierra Expeditions

or

a set the hella FF75s you mentioned in the low pro light bar thread.

I like having the Fog lights that I use all the time now... and want to use the tabs above for extra aux lights. Based on what you posted above (less than 2" in height and 1" in depth) I guess that isnt going to work. Now to talk with ARB to see if this kit really really can be cut into the 98-02 bar:

I know... pick your poison. You are modifing either bumper for the end result......:bang:

I'm stuck in the same situation as you.... I have a 2000 but I like all the newer features on the 03+ ARB bumper, ie. hi-jack lift points and fog light kit.

I was thinking about buying the ARB that fits the 2000 LC and cutting it up to fit custom lighting...possible glass HID halo'd projectors. But I know how bad ARB rusts so if I cut it up I would have to worry about re-powdering or painting the bump. Quite the dilemma!

Also, I've been thinking about a custom bump from BumpItOffRoad, however all the jerks on here got him busy until May-June.

I think I'm getting the ARB 03+ bump and making custom brackets to fit flush with my 3-4" body lift. Also, I kind of found a pretty sweet deal for $950 on the bump, pretty sweet!

Guess now I'll be getting the 42"- 52" VisionX Led for the roof..... or I'm thinking of getting 4 sets of the 32" for the front, back and sides of the rack.

So another dumb thought.....

I see the LX has a slightly different hood then my 2000 LC. Do the upper tabs still need to be cut/ground off to fit the LC? Also, there has been several people who have mentioned there is a larger gap between the body and bumper. Can any one post picks up of that?

Thanks Loud! So, what am I missing about installing an 03+ on my 2000 LC? I just feel like there is something I am overlooking here. I order the 03+, Locate the two frame horns and trim the lower portion carefully with a cut-off tool? That's it??? I have been depating over all this for all this time and that is all there is to it??? What about the gap I have heard about?

nothing, you're overthinking. Buy it+install = done. It's been done before, you're not venturing into uncharted territory.

Thanks agian Loud! Case closed!

Now to just sell off some crap I dont need and put in the order!
