Will a 2003-2005 front grill fit on my 2002 LX470? I don't think it does, but I thought I would ask. The problem I have with my grill is the first owner painted it black and it is all chipped up? What are my options to refinish? What's the original paint color for the grill? Should I repaint it? Color Code? Should I use Plastidip spray that a friend told me about? ( he just did his badges with it) Don't want to buy a new one. I will try to upload a pic later of the grill..I appreciate your thoughts!!

No, it won't fit. I believe that to fit it, you'll need to replace the surround parts around the grill. Tall and expensive task.

I don't see why it wouldn't, I think they're the same unless you're talking about an '06+ grill. There are countless refinishing options all depending on what you want your grill to look like. I believe stock (what I've got) is a black grill with a chrome surrounding (border) with a chrome Toyota emblem. I've seen several people go to the grill with some stripping agents and then re-spray them with black duplicolor and it turned out pretty great. I will probably be going that route in the near future, but you could also use plastidip for a less permanent solution as plastidip peels right off if you don't like the look of it. That being said, plastidip also won't last as long as a rattle can job. So the choice is yours, paint or plastidip, or do a retrofit to put an '06+ grill on http://tlcfaq.com/main/2012/05/face-lift-your-land-cruiser-100-series/ but I would personally opt to strip the current paint off the grill and repaint it with a can of duplicolor which should last you several years, if not the entire life, of the grill.

I had my grill painted smoke/black at a body shop. It looks good, but has chips in it again.

Best to DIY, that way it's much cheaper and you can just rattle can it when it starts to chip

Agreed, that will probably happen on round 2 when I take over the vehicle. Wife went from a new 4runner to a 98 LX and she only complained about the chipped grill, didn't even mention the door dings. I worked at a dealership at the time, so it was cheap.

The newer grille will not be a direct swap. It will fit with the purchase of a lot more parts and getting them painted to match.

^^^ This guy is correct ^^^

If you look at the front of a LX470 on a 98-02 you'll see that the part below the grille is a different thickness than the 03-07 grilles. You'll have to change several parts, the two under the headlights, the center trim and I believe there is a support underneath all of those that needs to be swapped as well. I wanted to put a 06 grille on my 2000 back in 2006/7 but the grille did not fit. It bolted to the hood but would not close due to the clearance issues.

I'm still waiting for black diamond (rigid industries) to come out with a black mesh for the 100 with integral dualie mounts. Looks slick on the FJC and 4R.
