'02 4Runner Gas Gauge (2 Viewers)

Got an 02 4R that has a gas gauge that works sporadically. Didnt know if there was a common issue that has already been identified. I searched the forum and didn't find anything specific.

When it is working, it will show all levels of gas. If I turn off the engine, it is hit or miss if it will identify the gas level the next time. Many times, it shows as empty.

Any thoughts.

power runs through the meter to the sender. i believe the sender is accessible under the rear seat for testing.

When I got mine the gauge was sporadic at best. I ran 2 bottles of techron through it and 15k miles later no problems. Not saying that will fix yours but worth a shot. That said I believe there is a TSB about sender issues, I don't remember the fix though.
