I recently replaced the ignition lock mechanism on my land cruiser. Since then, the vehicle won't start, it just makes a clicking noise. Also, we tried a socket and break over bar with a pipe over the break over bar as well, tried pushing it both ways, with no luck. The vehicle was in neutral. Its my conclusion that the engine has completely seized up. Any Idea what would cause this, or any hints or helpful info on what would cause this, or how to fix it? It would be greatly appreciated... Aaron

So it was running before you replaced the ignition and now it doesn't? Nothing in between those things?
Nothing in between, I tried starting the vehicle a couple times with the mechanism that screws to the back of the ignition. It would turn over, but not start, im guessing a security measure. Once I replaced all the broken parts, the key works fine, but when I go to start it, it just clicks every time. Also, the wheel stays locked even when the key is turned over, which I'm going to fix that tomorrow.

Better start shopping for an engine.

Just kidding, if it's a rapid clicking noise, it could likely be a bad battery. If it's a single click, could be a starter problem.

Sounds like a starter problem. It would be highly unusual for your engine to seize up.

Kind of a big jump to go straight to the engine being seized up or having to tow it in. Always trace back to the last thing you messed with. So, I'd start looking at ignition issues. Is the security light blinking or not when you put the key in? Have you checked the battery? Was it disconnected when you were working on the ignition?

If he can not turn the engine with a breaker bar then the key code, steering lock, etc is bypassed and the engine wont turn mechanically.
Still sounds really coincidental.
I vote for the starter somehow engaged and causing a locked situation.

All the other keylock stuff still needs to be sorted out but the engine should turn regardless.

The battery was not unhooked while I was working on it. Havent checked if the security light blinks, will do that tomorrow

How would I unlock this situation? I have no idea where to start except starter, but I dont see how that would fix it if the engine wont even budge
