01 LC - Shifter difficult to move

Today after several short trips I noticed that the gear selector became noticeably more difficult to move. It wasn't notchy, actually felt smooth, but definitely took more pressure to move. It's not consistent, sometimes it move easily and others it doesn't. Fluid is exactly where it should be and looks clean. Any input is appreciated.

I would check the basics first. Check the shift linkage, shifter, to make sure nothing is binding or causing resistance. Then look at the trans.
