    84 FJ60 purchase advice

Looking at a 250k vehicle this week. Same owner past 20 years. I’ve gathered that it has been maintained at a local shop but suspect no major systems services or updates. So far, photos look pretty solid for rust and condition, one rear quarter panel spot. Tires seem decent from photos. I’m...

    2003 LX470--transmission fluid never changed

I thought it was time to check and change the transmission fluid as Ive own my '03 LX470 for 3 years. I spoke with my mechanic friend who was a Lexus mechanic who helped me track the maintenance history. It showed the prior owner declined to have the trans mission fluid changed each time it was...

91 with budget vs newer with less

Hi all, Just trying to get some real world opinions on my current situation. Like many others I’ve been waiting and saving for quite a while to get my first 80 series, and as of yet the “right” one hasn’t come along. I’ve been holding out for the later model years, in decent shape, and not...

Starter replacement & P0325 blues. Any other "while you are in there maintenance?"

The dreaded "P0325" code popped up yesterday while I was running errands in my 2004 LX470. After running the code, it came back knock sensor 1 is bad. -The good. I have 30 days off work to do this job. - The bad. I really don't want to do this job. For those of you that don't know, knock...

I bought a 200, but I'm used to driving Tractors.

This was a semi planned impulse purchase. I've wanted an earlier 200 series for a while, but the time was never right for us. We picked this truck up recently when our Jetta TDI died on the freeway. I've been daily driving a very tired 60 series for the last few years. You can find that ordeal...

Recommended maintenance + PDF Manual for GX470...

I just bought a 2008 GX470 and I'm looking for recommendations on what exactly to do in terms of preventative maintenance right away. I know about all the fluids and filters, but curious about the "heater Ts" from the 100 series and if this has the same issues as well as anything else specific...

    Loosening bolts over time.

Do we have a list of bolts that need re-tightening over time that may not be touched during routine maintenance? I’ve heard of people snugging up the valve gaskets bolts and checking the caliper bolts. Are there any other major ones out there?

    PVC valve replacement

How often are you guys changing this out. I know it's a maintenance item but do you do it at 30k or what. I need to change the heater tees also. I guess do them both at the same time. and same intervals? Thanks,

Those who have changed Fuel Filter...difference?

I took my LC on a long trip and while at idle for long periods of time (2 hours), the RPM's started getting a little rough. No lights, never stalled or ever close...but from a consistent 7-800RPM's at idle with AC, it would occasionally drop to 4-500 and jump right back up. It wasn't "rough"...

I did the tees and hoses!

Been 6 months since I bought this 2003 lx 470 with 300k and made the mistake of taking it in for service at Lexus for the tune of $$$ embarrassed to say how much. Well the one thing they didn’t do was the tees and hoses. My guess was they were original. Bought the kit and special tool for the...

    OEM snob??? mishimoto radiator

I am a OEM guy through and through when working on my 100. Everything I've replaced/maintenance has been Toyota OEM. But damn, this aftermarket radiator cost less than my cost(I get discounts) OEM, and OEM is plastic. It started seeping on top. Anyone else go this route. This thing is quality!
