Well as I have been working to find the problem to my sister's transmission I have also been looking into her A/C problem. It seems that the a/c would blow cold air at first for about a hour and then progressively fail to cool. It turns out that the filter/drier pulled all the moisture out that it could, yet more remained in the system. This caused ice to form at the expansion valve stopping it up and blocking cooled freon from reaching the evaporator. The only solution is to purge the system, replace the filter/drier and recharge. The new filer/drier should not again have this problem since when the system is evacuated all the moisture is either pulled out or boiled off in the vacum. Replacing the evaporator like we did would also be a good idea.
