I have to seek prices to replace my rocker panel and my Wheel Well Opening. I looked at some Cruiser store like SOR and 4wheelauto (Can.). These stores sell these body part at an exorbitant price !

4wheelauto (Canadian cruiser shop):
Rocker Panel Replacement : 295 $ CAN :eek:
Wheel Well Opening : 295 $ CAN :eek:

SOR :
Rocker Panel Replacement : 389.34 $ USD :eek::eek:
Wheel Well Opening : 324.55 $ USD :eek::eek:

Wow.

So I contacted ordinary body part supplier in my area (Montréal) ... What surprised to realize the price.

Rocker Panel Replacement : 71 $ CAN
Wheel Well Opening : 200 $ CAN for the Wheel Well Opening and the ½ panel.

;)

Yes yes... Canadian dollar.

What can I said about that.... Take a look around before purchase body part from a Cruiser specialist shop... I think they know how Cruiser owner can spend a lot of money... but if we are inteligent... we can save a LOT of money. ;p

Bye

English???

A few years ago most of those Canadian places don’t want to ship or even deal with credit cards. Too much trouble I guess, they want walk in business.

What is the name of the shop where you bought those cheap body panels for your land cruiser? Thanks. Bob from Moncton

Well, as you can see, the original post was posted in 2005 ! Lot of prices as change ... and did not follow those suppliers since.

I found another great one that I'm now associated with as a ''MUD'' contact.

If you need a specific body part and price, ask me via PM and I'll qive you the answer.

Salut

oui monsieur,
the big shops can charge the big dollars. For example SOR sells ProComp shocks for $61/us (http://www.sor.com/cat286.sor). I sell the same shocks for $42/us and I sell them in stock and extended length, and in two separate types. Big alas I am just a little guy with little bills. :)

If I'll go to Colorado (which is likely in few years for an overland expedition), I pass by to teach you some french lesson !

That is a magnificent idea! I love speaking in french. English is nice, but french is a much more beautiful language. My problem is that I speak a few languages and they begin to blend into each other when i forget certain words. For example I always use the french word for dog when I am speaking in chinese.

I actually spent a summer in Paris about ten years ago. France is interesting, but Paris, what can you say about Paris?

Aren't you mainly a drop shipper? You can't compare apples to oranges as they have a brick and mortar store with stock

I don't have a retail front, but I do have a shop. 4 wheel parts charges the same that I do and they're a retail front plus install shop. They just don't claim to be cruiser specialists. My point was that when you claim a specialty your price goes up. Because people will pay for the focused guru like knowledge. It just is what it is.

Price goes up due to overhead stock, insurance, workers comp, taxes, leases, wages, etc, etc. Sole proprietor drop shippers really don't have any of that. :cheers:
